Hello Peeps! Time to talk about the new Pride Empire. As usual, we tried the Pride Empire on our house shot pattern and the the first thing I noticed is that this ball is definitely more angular than I thought. I was definitely impressed.
As most pearlized balls, the Pride Empire is very clean through the front part of the lane and once it hits the friction it makes a strong move down lane.
When I first tried the Pride when it was released, I loved the reaction as a first ball out of the bag, but by the second or third game I wanted to have a similar shape, but cleaner and more angular, thankfully now I have the Pride Empire in my hands. It is the perfect complement to the original Pride.
This ball makes opening up the lane really easy since it saves most of its energy for the last part of the lane.
I started laying the ball around 13 with 7 as my breakpoint and the ball had a great reaction. The only thing I noticed is that at least for me, with my low/medium rev rate, misses outside are more forgiving than with other balls. The ball stores so much energy so when it hits friction, it makes a hard turn to the right. When I missed inside, the pearlized cover offered enough hold to still hit the pocket. Definitely more controllable and predictable than I thought.
I started moving right with both my feet and my eyes and the Pride Empire allowed me to play steeper angles and see enough recovery. I was able to move up to the third arrow, having 8 at my breakpoint and the Pride Empire always recovered with a strong backend motion.
Overall this ball allowed me to play from multiple angles, it is definitely a versatile piece.
The Pride Empire fills a hole in the Motiv lineup. It is more angular than the the Pride and it offers a shape that Motiv didn’t have before. It is a great step down from balls like the Mythic Jackal and a great complement to the original Pride.
When your ball start reading the lane too early, the Pride Empire will be a great option to go to on most medium and heavy oil patterns.
On a house shot, this ball can be easily used both on fresh and on broken down conditions. On sport shot patterns, the Pride Empire will be a great weapon to have once there are some friction and you have to open up the lane.
Overall, The Pride Empire is a versatile ball that will allow you to play from different angles and on different conditions. While this ball is not the most angular ball in the Motiv lineup, it provides you with a shape that is required when you need some angularity but also some control and predictability on the lanes.
