Motiv Villain Scorn video and written review
« on: November 19, 2018, 03:07:31 PM »

Hello guys! It's been a while, but we are back and this time we had the chance to review the newest ball from Motiv, the Villain Scorn.

We tried the new Villain Scorn on our house shot pattern and the Villain Scorn is definitely more angular than I thought, I was definitely impressed.

As most pearlized balls, the Villain Scorn is very clean through the front part of the lane and once it hits the friction it makes a strong move down lane.

When I first tried the Trident Quest about a year ago, I thought that the Quest reaction was angular, that is until I had the Villain Scorn in my hands. This ball makes opening up the lane really easy since it saves most of its energy for the last part of the lane.

I started laying the ball around 14 with 7 as my breakpoint and the ball had a great reaction. The only thing I noticed is that at least for me, with my low/medium rev rate, misses outside are more forgiving than with other balls. The ball stores so much energy so when it hits friction, it makes a hard turn to the right. When I missed inside, the pearlized cover offered enough hold to still hit the pocket. Definitely more controllable than I thought.

I started moving right with both my feet and my eyes and the Scorn let me play steeper angles and see enough recovery. I was able to move up to the third arrow, having 8 at my breakpoint and the Scorn always recovered with a strong backend motion.

Overall this ball allowed me to play from multiple angles, it is definitely a versatile piece.

The Scorn fills a hole in the Motiv lineup. It is more angular than the the Trident Quest and it offers a shape that Motiv didn’t have before.

It is very clean through the fronts, with a strong and predictable backend motion.

It is a great complement to the Villain and strong solid balls like the Trident Abyss or the new T10. When these balls start reading the lane early, the Scorn will be a great option to go to on most medium and heavy oil patterns.

On a house shot, this ball can be easily used both on fresh and on broken down conditions. On sport shot patterns, the Scorn will be a great weapon to have once there are some friction and you have to open up the lane.

Overall, The Villain Scorn is a versatile ball that will allow you to play from different angles and on different conditions. This ball is definitely the most angular piece in the Motiv lineup and it will definitely fit into a lot of bowling styles.

Thank you for watching!

Good to see you back around! Where have you been?

I just moved to a new house, so I had no internet for a while, plus the moving, family, etc, etc... But now I am more than ready to keep rolling!  8)

I will release the T10 review soon, this time it won't be me though, it will be another member of Average Joe Reviews who is actually a decent bowler lol :)
