Motiv Supra video and written review
« on: November 03, 2019, 01:12:09 AM »

Hello guys! Time for a new review. This time I had the chance to try the new Motiv Supra.

The Motiv Supra is one of the latest additions to the Motiv lineup. This ball features a modified version of the Impulse core used on the Primal series along with the Infusion pearl coverstock provides great length and a stronger change of direction down lane on medium and light oil conditions.

We used our house shot pattern to test it (Kegel Main Street, 41’) and the ball does exactly as advertised. It is an angular monster.

When I use this type of balls, pearls with a high RG and medium differential, I usually stand close to my comfort zone, crossing around second arrow and having 5 or 6 at the breakpoint. I couldn't do that with the Supra. This ball is one of the most angular balls Motiv ever created. I had to move 6 boards to the right to play inside third arrow and I had to project the ball further down the lane just to watch it come back from almost anywhere. In the video you can actually see how I moved close to the fourth arrow and the ball just kept coming. Really impressive!

This ball never hooked too early for me. It has great length and it has a fast response to friction, as soon as it exits the pattern the ball makes a strong move to the pocket. The ball offers a lot of recovery every time I missed left. The Supra is very clean through the fronts and it stores most of its energy for the last part of the lane. Misses inside weren't as forgiving as when I missed outside.

As soon as the pattern started breaking down, the Supra reaction just got better and better. I was able to swing the ball more to the left and see even more recovery. Even on a broken down pattern, this ball never wanted to read the lane early, offering a great reaction on this type of conditions.

For the power players, this ball will be a great option to start on fresh on most league conditions. The Supra will provide easy length and a strong, angular backend motion. While for the speed dominant or low rev bowlers, this ball definitely will come into play when you need to ball down from a stronger ball, when bowling on the transition, on broken down patterns or when you need to get more length and create more shape downlane.

For the tournament bowlers, this ball might be a little unpredictable or over/under if you bowl on fresh, flat patterns. To get a better reaction you can always adjust the surface of the ball to match up with the pattern. But once the pattern starts breaking down and you created a hook spot, this ball will be a great option to move in and create more angle.

The guys at Motiv definitely have something special with the Infusion coverstock. The Supra, along with the Ripcord, are the two most angular balls I've ever tried and the Forge Fire still offers enough angularity for a ball with such strong core. The Supra does exactly as advertised.

If you are looking for a ball with a skid-flip reaction on most medium and light oil conditions, then the Supra is the ball for you.

Thank you for watching!
