I still use my Venom Shock as the first ball out of my bag at every tournament or different house I go to. I don't start with it in my league setting only because there isn't enough oil for my style and the Shock on our THS. I have to use an OG Purple Rhino Pro; that is how dry they are.
If a bowler has no affiliations with a particular company, the Venom Shock would be the first ball I would recommend from Motiv. I am not on staff, but my wife was at one point so I give them my business based on how they treated her (kudos to Brett). Can't say I feel the same with other pieces in their lineup, though they are good top to bottom.
Everyone makes great equipment, but for me, the Venom Shock is special and has that little bit extra that makes it great.
Of note, some people feel the Venom Shock is a bit rolly, and it can be. I have found surface prep to be very important on the Venom Shock. Don't be afraid of 500 to 1000 for heavier conditions and polish on lighter. It can excel at both.
Also, like with the IQ Tour, most have had better success with normal-strong drillings. Having a weak drilling on a weaker core leads to inconsistencies in my experience.
