Recommendation for pretty severe Wet/Dry
« on: December 15, 2015, 10:45:18 PM »
Bought a Revolt Vengeance to replace my aging Defiant Soul. The new ball is way too sensitive and fairly unforgiving on my house's wet/dry. Touch inside and it's weak slide city, touch outside and it snaps across the headpin. I know I know, it's the Indian. Well this Indian needs something a touch more forgiving. Even tried multiple cover changes and weight holes but I'm not getting along with it.
Sooo, the two balls that I'm eyeballing next are the Jackal, so I can try to play inside in the soup and not be so dependent on the harsh dry or my ball driller is recommending a Forza since it's smoother and not so snappy and then wants me to play outside and bring it down and in. I'm speed dominant with not a ton of hand...around 15 mph at the pins, low revs.
Any ideas which way I'd be better off? ...besides giving up bowling ;)

I have never had the jackal but I absolutely hated the vengeance. I just had a label drill on it and it created a very specific reaction that needed a specific shot. I have the forza pin below the middle finger. And I think it has a pretty even reaction. I have high ball speed, around 18mph, but decent hand. I thought the forza was too strong until I tried this layout. It doesn't tend to over react to hard on the dry but I can keep it in the oil and it still kicks out the corner. You probably could still swing the forza.

I have both the vengeance and forza. The vengeance I have of drilled to hook stop and it works great on medium oil. The forza Lord have mercy my favorite ball for life. The forza is just a smooth ball by itself , I drilled my under ring finger and it is even more smoother. Its so versatile for me I can play a heavy oil shot with it and go play the medium very light patterns with it. Its so predictable. Get it inside and the ball wants to roll early and still hold pocket. Throw it right u will see the ball snap but a smooth snap not a violent one like a skid flip ball would. I never owned the jackal but boy everyone I know put that ball away. Could just not find either the right condition or the ball just a dud. Just my opinion but forza can't go wrong with that bad boy.

In theory, the Forza will probably be better suited for extreme wet/dry over the Vengeance.

Have you adjusted the surface on your Vengeance?

Yes, multiple cover/surface changes and weight hole adjustments.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys...called up my driller and have an appt. to get a Forza. Appreciate the advice!

I am speed dominant and have found that a higher-end asymmetric ball with a lower grit has been my best option for scoring on severe wet/dry lanes.  I move in and open up my angles a bit.  While I am not always comfortable doing this, I always score best when I trust it and don't fight it.  I probably would have opted for the Jackal and an abralon pad...

That was my thought too.
I'll see how the Forza works for me and then maybe I'll get a Jackal Carnage to compliment it down the road.
