Paranoia vs forza solid question? Need a new ball =p
« on: June 01, 2016, 01:01:52 PM »
Came back to bowling and own a venom cobra and a paranoia.  I see motiv is releasing a hybrid forza.   So i was wondering how to paranoia comes to the solid forza.     If the reactions are close i will most likely pass on the newer forza.           I want to add 2 new balls to complete my 4 ball bag.      1. Venom cobra 2
Paranoia 3. ??  4??     For slot 3 i am debating to get. A revolt havok the new forza gt, or a 2nd paranoia sanded down.   I do love my paranoia.   For slot 4. I am considering the   primal rage,  primal rage remix, or revolt depending on my selection for spot 3.    I am also considering waiting for the jackal replacement for slot 4 and just deal with not having a heavy oil ball.       I throw theball 16.5 mph with 425 revs high track.

The Forza should be a lot different. It's an earlier, smooth ball that gives you a benchmark type of reaction. If your Paranoia reacts like the ones I've seen it's something that goes crazy on the backend. It's hard to say what the Forza GT will do since it has a completely new (I think) coverstock. But regardless that would be closer to the Paranoia.

If you like the Paranoia and Venom Cobra it seems like you favor stuff that sits on the right side of Motiv's ball chart. The Forza and Revolt Havoc occupy the left side and are quite a bit different from your current arsenal. They should be fine for you if you've had success with earlier rolling balls before but if not sticking with something in the middle or right side would be the best bet.

I personally do not consider the Forza to be a benchmark type ball.  It is hoped the new Forza GT will be a better benchmark ball in the Sigma Sting area of ball reaction.

Filling out your arsenal would depend on what conditions you will face and what does your current arsenal NOT provide you.  Do you need something earlier?  Do you need something stronger?  Weaker?  There are many questions that need to be asked before anyone, including a pro shop, can suggest additional equipment.

That's interesting. You're probably the first person I've heard or seen say that.

Well i dont likr house shots but my paranoia and cobra are plenty for it.   Last week i bowled on seoul with only my cobra no where near agressive for the shot the house laid out.  I drilled my paranoia and will try it today. As far as what i need i wsnt stuff ealier and agressive for medium to heavy conditions.  I will only be on sport shots

With that being the case I'd look at the Havoc and the Jackal replacement coming out sometime soon. If you could add all 3 including the Forza, I would do that.

The Forza seems to be great for tougher patterns however, the Havoc has a slightly stronger core and cover if you're only going to have a 4 ball arsenal

I just personally feel a benchmark ball should be a ball you use to read the lanes and determine whether or not to stay with said ball, move the reaction further or move the reaction earlier.

If the Forza is not the correct ball and reacts too soon, then where do you go?  Do you go with the Redline or the Paranoia?  You might have to make two ball moves to figure it out, up to the Redline and perhaps up again to the Paranoia if the Redline is also too early.

This sounds like a good plan.  However, I am not too sure how soon the Jackal replacement will be here.  The SE version is said to be here maybe early fall and I believe it might be intended as only a replacement ball for those asking.  Then again, I can't imagine Motiv starting the fall league season without a high end asymmetric in their lineup.  We will have to see.

I guess it depends on how you set up your bag. My stuff tends to be more spaced out in terms of reaction and strength so moving up or down from the middle/benchmark piece would be a more pronounced change.

Primal rage, ball is veeeery versatile and can handle oil, and since you are saying the cobra and paranoia is good enough for the amount of oil you see, get a shock, IMO it has more overall hook than my paranoia by 3-5 boards
Motiv Paranoia 40*4*55
Motiv Jackal Carnage 40*4*55
Hammer BWRLS 50*4*55
RG Haywire 40*3.5*50
Storm Rocket 4.5*4*2
Motiv Burn 50*5*40
Motiv Tag 50*5*40
RG Devour 55*5.5*60
Motiv Venom Shock 45*3 3/4*35

PAP 4 3/4" left 1/2 up
Revs: 400.     Ball Speed: 16 mph
