The following is from Scott at HQ:
Some pro shops have asked what the intent was behind the MOTIV Primal TV4, and what type of bowler it is designed for.
MOTIVated pro shops know that our equipment has matched up incredibly well with high rev expert bowlers from the beginning. It is not overly jumpy on the backend, but consistently provides a strong controlled reaction with incredible hitting power. The result is better scoring. However, the typical league bowler that wants help hooking the ball has been looking for something different from MOTIV. That is where the Primal shines.
The Primal gives low to moderate rev bowlers the boost they need. We accomplished this by creating a coverstock with more surface texture (higher Ra). This helps the average bowler cross more boards down the lane.
High rev bowlers do not necessarily need this kind of help. Actually, the added surface texture in the Vicious cover will create a smoother backend reaction for them. So, for the high rev bowlers, the Primal is better when the oil breaks down and more control is needed.
If you have specific questions about layouts for the Primal, please post those on the "Punching Up Your MOTIV" forum.
Thank you all for being MOTIVated!

I punched a Primal... love the reaction and power it gives to me...
My carry improved a lot but...
I WANT TO INCREASE THE SNAP... WHERE SHOULD I PUMP THE X-HOLE?
The side weights are within the specifications, just near 1 ounce each...
Thanks for your attention

good to know. a friend of mine is on the motiv staff & was wondering about the controlled motion it has on the backend. he was expecting more angularity. i'll pass this along to him.

Guess that sorta answers why the higher rev guys around here don't like it. I threw one and was very surprised at how weak down the lane it looked. I should note however that for a friend who has lower ball speed and 'less' hand it is a beast!
