Finally drilled one all I can say is 'WOW' bowled 3 games in an center known for tight back-ends, Primal Rage made it back every shot. When my other balls would wiggle and not recover the Primal Rage did, ball is very impressive.

Yeah I bowled a tournament on Athens yesterday, used it for all 8 games while other people were switching balls all day long. Several bad shots the last game kept me out of the top 10 (75 entries), but I made money! One of the better balls ever made.

Read one of your earlier post on several MOTIV balls Gizmo, convinced me to give them a try. Hopefully my next two will be the Tribal and Apex. I been impressed with the Track Hx05 but the Primal Rage blew it out the waters.

You might have too much overlap with those 3. If you got just the Apex and then put a solid in there somewhere like the Octane or the Venom Shock it would probably be better. The Tribal is a little cleaner through the front and sharper on the back, but the Rage is so versatile that I'm already finding that it's just as easy to make a small adjustment with it as it is to switch to the Tribal. Or let me put it this way, drill the Apex before you drill the Tribal and see what happens, I think you'll be able to cover more conditions with the Rage and Apex than you think.
-
And actually the Tribal Fire (or Flame depending on who you ask) coming out in a couple months might be perfect.
-
The Apex is going to be the next ball cause I need something for light-oil I have been eyeing the Octane that coming in July.
-
Yeah I'm getting an Octane too, I just don't know what I'm going to do with it. I need an Apex though for tournaments!
-
I believe the Octane is replacing the Thrash Frenzy. So don't expect typical solid type reaction (I think it is actually a hybrid). It will fill the skid/snap reaction for the medium oil line of balls.
-
Yeah, I noticed a few days ago that they had "retired" the Frenzy a day or so before adding the Octane.

I will be trying to throw the Rage I just drilled in league tomorrow morning although I doubt it will be very effective as they are flying this summer. I'm in the left gutter in game 1 with my Tribal and Fusion. Over the summer i will be adding a Revolt to go with my Shock, an Octane,Tribal Fire,Ascent Apex and another Toxin

You guys are going to cause me to get a Rage to replace my Primal Scream if you don't stop talking abou the Rage .... :P :) ;D

have looked at the rage about a 100 times but i heard so many bad story's about the ball losing reaction after a short period of time....has anyone had that issue and could comment?

I have two of them and used the living heck out of them all this past league season and when I drilled a tribal at the end of the year (same cover, weaker core) both of my Rage's were still stronger.
Take it for what it's worth, I do clean my stuff but am not super anal about that.

I haven't seen any significant performance loss . . my wife used one all season and nothing changed, had another buddy with one that used it all season too. Ran it through the Detox once and it added a couple boards back, but it reacted good for him all season. I just drilled mine Sunday, so I have no personal comment yet . .

thanks for the feedback guys...think ill pick one up soon

All the talk of this ball just made me call my pro shop. Getting a rage drilled on Friday. What does everyone think of it for a nice versatile benchmark?
-
For me it's an benchmark ball covers an lot of conditions except the dry.
-
I had one that didnt match up to me real well. Low flare skid flip layout didnt match up with my low tilt and high speed.
BUT I may try another ome with a diff layout.

I have both the Rage and Tribal drilled similarly. The Rage is the first ball that I have ever used that I don't worry how oily the lanes are. With my slower ball speed it gives me everything I could want on such conditions. The Tribal is a ball that plays superbly on medium to lighter shots but if I move out near the gutter I've found heavier shots don't present much of a problem. I have spent many dollars over the years chasing the perfect bowling ball for me. My investment into these two finally showed me I spent my money well.
