I'm in the market for a Motive piece and am looking for the most angular ball they have. It seems to be a choice between these two. Which one is the sharpest off the break point?
-
It seems to vary for different bowlers. Motiv says the Octane is the sharpest, but for me it's the Primal Rage. I didn't even like the Octane and sold it, but the Primal Rage is a monster.
With a good coat of polish, the Jackal will probably turn the corner like a Ferrari. :)

I have both the Primal Rage and Octane. Both balls are drilled identical and for me the Octane is the sharpest of the two, but even though it is sort of ok, I would not buy another one. Now with the Rage, I simply love that ball. So versatile and strong with continuation on the back end. The Rage and Thrash Frenzy are my 2 favorite Motiv balls, but no longer throw the Frenzy because I moved up a lb in weight, so currently stuck with the Octane in it's place.

I bought milorafferty's Octane. It was pretty much what I expected. It loves dry and hates oil. The ball will squirt and not move on any significant oil and will react to any dry. This causes some over under and inconsistent motion with the ball. The ball is super clean in the front oil and pretty long, longer than my hy-road. I did put a MOtion hole in the Octane and the ball is crazy strong and continuous on the backend and off of friction. BTM rates it a 52 hook. I would say on the right condition it would be a 52 hook, but if there isn't defined dry then there are many other balls that will out hook this ball. I don't have the Primal Rage but from what I have seen the ball is sooner than the Octane and pretty strong on the backend.

Thanks guys. Looks like the Primal Rage for me.

JW ... The Rage is a bit sooner than the Octane and as I said in my post above, so versatile and strong with great continuation thru the pins. On the Octane, when I first got it, I hated it the first time I threw it. I then sanded it to 2000 grit using Motiv's sanding instructions and it made a big difference and the ball became usable but not as great and versatile as my Thrash Frenzy was. Since then I have changed the surface to 500 grit and polished and it is best there for me. I don't have the oil problem with it now as you have described though.
