Primal Scream vs Primal Rage
« on: August 08, 2014, 11:06:03 PM »
I have the Primal Scream and love it. (Love my Thrash Frenzy as much if not more)

Anyhow, providing my appointment with my Dr Monday goes ok, I am thinking about trying to move up in weight from 12# to 13# as I think my back can now handle 1# more and am looking at the Rage and if successful at that weight, then the Octane next.

With both the Scream and Rage having the same core, what makes the Rage different, longer, stronger on the back-end according to reviews and etc? I am sure the only thing that it can be is the coverstock, so my question is ... can the Scream cover be adjusted to perform the same?

I don't believe the Scream can be altered to be similar to the Rage. When the Rage came out it was a whole different animal

The short answer is no. Here's why:

The Scream featured a solid, medium-strong coverstock. The Rage is a strong pearl cover. The only way to adjust the surface on the scream to perform like the longer/stronger Rage would be to polish it pretty heavily. That would increase the length, but you'd also be cutting down on the overall strength of the ball significantly, making an already weaker ball, a lot weaker overall.

They really are horses of different colors. Same core makes them similar in the hit and carry department, but the Rage is just much more ball with the Fusion Pearl cover.

Good luck!
