Purple Tank Video
« on: March 06, 2021, 08:21:37 AM »
Youtube video below, throwing purple tank, tank blitz, desert tank, and covert tank, all with the same layout. Purple Box finish, Blitz, Desert and Covert all at a fresh 1000/2000 surface.

I'm not a high rev rate guy, so urethane doesn't get used much, if ever for me because i've always had a better look with reactive. I'm not saying rush out and buy a purple, or that i'll even use it a lot, but it definitely struck quite a bit for me in filming and was very easy to get to the 1-3 with misses still getting 9 which was not something i've experienced in the past. I tried it on the house patterns locally a few times and it was not good, at all for me. Definitely feels like a niche piece, but showing signs of being very good at it's niche.

Welcome any feedback on the video, just tossed this together as a few friends asked me for it.

I've been thinking about going with the Desert Tank.  Usually can just stick with my Venom Shock in league but when I go practice on a non-fresh house shot it would be nice to have something weaker to throw.  Do you think one of the tanks or a thrill would be the best option for something like that?

Primal Shock
Rogue Assassin
Revolt Havoc
Revolt Vengeance
Venom Shock
Blue Coral Venom
Fatal Venom

I use all 3 Shock on fresh 1st choice is pink/yellow Thrill rolls like a shiny reactive solid though it's pearl way better than the OG Thrills and then Desert Tank.  Either will give you more shape than a Purple Tank for the majority.  And I won't use a Purple Tank in league formats as the lane condition is generally 40' 12:1 puddle/wall and not suited for urethane.  Plus the carry down issue Purple Tank creates. Desert Tank works well anywhere you have friction to the outside just have to dial in surface.

If you get a Thrill get the pink/yellow it's way better than the OG Thrills red or blue.  Completely different ball IMO.

Right now Motiv has the best low volume light to light-medium house condition balls with Microcell Polymer and Flux core.  Especially if you are rev dominant or matched with low to medium speed.

Really depends on how dry they are, the Supra can be an option, but it will boom downlane if there is a lot of friction, it's more of a subtle need entry angle when lanes transition from the Venom Shock for me.

As Scott mentioned, the thrill and the desert tank are both good options, the desert is more round, just due to the cover, the thrill OOB is pretty angular, but shapes good when get a little surface on it. I would pick based on how sharp of a motion you want and decide on that, sharp, Thrill, rollier, Desert Tank. Just don't drill either too weak because the diff is only .015 so even strong drillings will flare very little.
