Question for Motiv?
« on: March 21, 2016, 07:03:38 PM »
Any chance I could buy some Jackals at a deep discount direct from Motiv? I bowl quite a few unsanctioned events and I would like to help the company recover some costs...but mostly I'm a cheapskate looking for some equipment.

I'm totally serious, let me know!

call them. They have a 1 616 and a 1800 number on their site. Never hurts to ask, even though I feel you'll be denied.

They can't sell a ball engraved with the usbc approval that isn't approved. It's another fine if they get caught.

Well that sux...seems like a waste of a perfectly good bowling ball. Since they can't sell it, I'd be happy to volunteer as a tester for the old Jackal line in exchange for a donation to Motiv's favorite charity!

Dear Motiv,
Just PM me and I'll tell you where to mail them and make sure to enclose a note containing the name of your favorite charity and I'll spin them down the lane!

Is there any chance some were on the line or some were in the process of being finished and they had yet to be stamped?

You could always call and find out. Couldn't hurt to ask.

I'd buy a few without USBC stamp. I stopped bowling sanctioned events and leagues years ago.

If they would sell them off for cheap, it would be a good practice ball. I don't keep score when I practice, just work on timing, release, etc. Why wear out my good stuff when we  could use something like this?

Or they could fire up the engraver and turn the C in USBC into an O on each ball...I think USBO Approved has a nice ring to it

For stuff that is stamped with the USBC engraving....I wonder how much time it would take to remove the engraving? Probably more money involved in that than what Motiv could ultimately sell the balls for after the USBC stamp was removed.

Close that C with a swipe from an engraver and it's an O...problem solved on the cheap. Just in case someone at Motiv is reading the forum, usboshop.com domain name is available if you want to pick it up and sell some equipment ;)

Since rules are defined in terms of absolutes it seemed appropriate for Motiv to slightly alter the engraving so they could "legally" sell the banned balls and recoup some of their costs.

you complained about not getting use out of the Jackal and Carnage last week. Now you're looking for new ones to practice with? You have 2 and will be receiving 2 new comp balls in the coming weeks. Not a bad deal after all, aye? Hopefully we don't hear about drilling anymore.

Ya know, I said I wasn't going to respond to your nonsense of following me around, but one more time:

I believe I am going to have to return or in some way dispose of the current Jackals I have in exchange for 2 new balls that are USBC compliant. I bought the initial Jackals for use in sanctioned competition, nothing short of that. Those balls would go in my bag as new pieces for use in sanctioned play.

As for practice, I would have NO ISSUE buying a ball I knew I could not use in competition because I knew I couldn't use it in competition. It was a practice ball only.

So to get my competition bag back to where it was, yes, I still do, as many others (and I recognize you want to follow me and lead those who do not agree, that is fine)  that Motiv should make the customer whole for a ball that was sold as legal to use in sanctioned play, not 2 balls relegated to practice only and our competition equipment is 2 balls short until we shell out the cash to fix a mistake Motiv caused.

Sorry, still want them to pay. Also, back to not publicly responding to you. As I have stated before, I am not changing my opinion. Want to discuss it further, PM me.
