Since my back seems better since surgery on it last Oct, I am going to try to move up a lb in weight to 13#. I currently have a 12# Primal Scream and a 12# Thrash Frenzy. Love both, especially the Scream. I have a 13# Rage on order and waiting to be drilled at Buddies Pro Shop now. If it works out ok for me, I was looking at the Octane to compliment it, but after reading Gizmo's post above in the Octane or Tribal post, I am wondering about the Tribal also. I can't play deep like the 25 or even 20 board like many of you do, I am in the area of approx 15 board and out.
On Gizmo mentioning if the Octane smells dry too soon, it can stand up. I wonder if this holds true on a lighter ball like 13# with lower revs like I have as I have been told that lighter balls don't react as fast to friction as heavier balls. True or not, I am not that knowledgeable.

I would agree with Gizmo. If it were me, I would lean to the Tribal over the Sigma (Sting I assume) or Octane. Even though the Tribal has the same cover as the Rage, it is somewhat weaker and not as skid/flip. It should keep you further right when the lanes break down than the other balls.
The other balls in the light-medium category (Tribal Fire and Venom Shock) seem significantly stronger than the Tribal. Their coverstocks are much newer.
I know it isn't on your list, but the Venom Toxin was recently discontinued by Motiv and would be a great compliment in my opinion. It's hybrid cover would be less aggressive when it sees the dry and might be had for a bargain.

I drilled a Tribal Fire last week for a friend of mine, who has an average hand & speed. Used the same layout as his Rage & that ball rolls really well for him. Gets down lane & makes a nice, continuous move. He was able to stay right much longer than normal, compared to using the Rage.

I have a Venom Toxin. It works very well on dry lanes. I can stay out and play down the lane.

If I remember correctly, you have the Thrash Frenzy. Use that as an example, same core in both balls. The Octane has a stronger cover, but the shot shape will be similar.

Milo, I do love the Frenzy and always have since day one. Once again, it saved the day for me today when my Scream wouldn't perform.

JMO but folks will gravitate to one ball or another because of their bowling stats., lane condition and lane topography. To pick one over another is just your preference. One bowlers gravy is another's mash potatoes. Folks will always pick out balls that suit them not you. Take it for what's it's worth Jim..............nothing.
