I bought the primal rage earlier this summer, and immediately thought it was the best ball ever. This lasted all of 3-4 weeks, and since then, either the shot changed, or I need to polish it again. It had maybe 40-50 games. I am watching it start hooking half way down the lane in two houses, one of which I know hasn't oiled in a while. I don't know how long a ball can go without needing more polish. Help please?

It might be due for a little surface maintenance, but the bigger problem is "one of which I know hasn't oiled in a while". The Primal Rage needs some oil.

OK my guess was right, then. Thanks. After how many games should I touch upi the surface?

I don't have a set number of games for doing a touch up, but I can tell with my equipment when it's needed. Some covers seem to have an extra hardness factor that makes them last longer, where others can need a light polish after only 9-12 games. I find it depends on the actual lane surface as well. Some lane sufraces leave abrasion marks in the track with every throw, where others only leave oil lines.
To quote U.S. Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart, "I know it when I see it".
