Not MOTIVated anymore
« on: April 03, 2012, 06:15:11 AM »
As dreadfully expected upon purchase, my orange RX-1 (1st drilling) cracked after 15 months without reason while sitting in a ball cup in my ball rack. Temperate surroundings, no oil extraction so far, low mileage and frequently turned in the cup to prevent pressure building up between the ball elements - but to no avail.

Fed up. The ball cracked from the pin through the engravings. It was a try, but this lack of structural integrity leads me not to purchase any Motiv ball in the future anymore.
 :(

I expect my Hell Raiser to be the next, while "old school" stuff like my vintage Elimator or VBP stuff keep literally solid and reliable as rocks.

As I completely understand your frustration, have you contacted Motiv customer support? I have made calls for some of my local pro shops to have balls replaced for customers due to balls cracking. It happens and I don't believe there is a perfect batch of balls out on the market anywhere.

Before you completely give up, give customer support a call and see what they can do for you. You never know what can happen.

I have. Got a TX-1 sitting at my shop that I tried replacing for a customer. Talked to someone on the phone, they admitted there were some bad early batches and that they would warranty if it fell into one of those batches. So I emailed pics of the ball and serial numbers. No response. Emailed again to see if they got it. No response. Called and left a message with the individual I had talked to previously. No response.

So, although it was a long shot, the ball is a doorstop. I would have been okay if they simply told me it wasn't under warranty anymore and wasn't one of the batches. But the lack of return calls and emails bothered me. I still get mail from them at every ball release though...lol. Good luck with that.
