Judge my bag!
« on: May 06, 2020, 06:45:42 PM »
Ok, got my Rogue Assassin in, now I need to start piecing together a full bag. Here's my ideas.

Alpha Jackal 60*5*40
Nemesis (2) 70*4.5*30 OOB 50*5*65 3000
Forge Fire 5*65
Assassin 5*40
Supra 5*40
Blitz 5*40
Shock 5*40
Covert 5*40
Desert Tank (undecided)

In my eyes, it looks like a good combo of fast and slow reactions. Also, I know some may overlap and that I'm missing a Flight in there, but I'd rather taste the rainbow than miss out.

I've also thought about drilling the Fire with a stronger pin to really give it shape.

Thoughts?

I mean, if it's supposed to be a better Shock, why not just use the Shock...?

I haven't been able to wrap my head around the Flight either. From the Motiv site they said:

"For years, our pro tour staff has asked for a ball to compliment the Venom Shock when it can’t create enough angle or combat the volume on the lane."

From all of the videos I've seen, I think the cover on the Flight is too smooth. They need a re-release of the Covert Revolt.

Shock is Turmoil MFS, Ripcord Flight is Turmoil Max, and the Covert Revolt was Turmoil HFS

I actually asked about a Covert Revolt remake and was told that core is too close to maximum rules to come back just as it was.

Doom, I don’t blame you for asking to bring the Revolt back..... I still have mines (From when originally purchased when it came out); Its one of the most consistent pieces I’ve ever thrown to this day.

Welcome to Motiv lane!!!

That makes me more curious about it actually. The core specs are almost identical to the Forge series.

Forges (2.47/0.55) and Revolts (2.47/0.56)

The Revolt Havoc paid for itself multiple times for me and I wished I still had it this year. The Forge motion has looked rounder than the Revolts to my eyes

There's a guy on eBay selling the international 2020 Revolt, I bought one.

I've considered putting a Forge in place of the Fire, because the Nemesis *could* fit between the Jackal and Assassin.

I own all of these, except the Desert Tank. Honestly, I feel you are over thinking it unless; you just enjoy buying every ball(which is my problem as well) or you are getting ready to go on tour.

If you are bowling on house conditions, then you will not need a forklift to get your equipment to the lanes.

Alpha Jackal-Probably not needed, and if so, then probably only for the first game.

Nemesis/Forge Fire-Good balls, but no real need to have both in your bag for THS. A slight surface change/release adjustment gives you both reactions.

Assassin/Blitz/Venom Shock-Again, no need for all three on a THS. A surface change/release adjustment will cover everything needed. Personally, go with the Venom Shock and adjust the surface.

Covert? Is your THS really short? Otherwise, don't bother unless you have a fetish about leaving flat 7s or 10s. If you feel the need to get something for the burn, then get the Thrill instead. It's also pretty good for shooting spares if you can flatten out your release even a little.

Supra is somewhat unique and can be a high scoring ball if you have burned a hole in the pattern with the Alpha early and need something to get around that spot.

So in short, you really only need four balls and honestly, unless there is high traffic, you will use the Forge Fire/Nemesis and just move deeper or change your release for the entire night.

Just my opinion.  ;D

Finally, Milo.

I plan on bowling tournaments, so the need to expand the bag is needed. As a ball under the Alpha (or Ghost, haven't decided yet), I'd probably go with the Fire with surface to keep it in front of me. I see the Nemesis as a bigger ball down than the Fire.

I haven't thrown a Shock yet, but threw the Blitz and Assassin, and would I carry both to a house shot league? No. I'd probably just throw the Assassin because I'd save the Blitz for tougher stuff.

Covert, I really liked when I could play in the dumper's zone. I have high axis rotation (or is it tilt? Everything goes sideways for me) and I feel like I could play the track with it.
