If the Sigma Sting is so popular, why would they discontinue it?

Probably some shiny new toy planned for that spot in their line up. Sigma Sting is the best ball I have used.

I second that.  It's one of the top 3 balls I have ever used.

Is the sting really that good? I was thinking of getting one in the next days but I'm not that sure, what does the ball offer that is really attractive?

It's that good. Great benchmark type ball controllable and strong downlane on medium oil. It's definitely a THS killer for most tweener/cranker bowlers. I'm gonna have too get my hands on another one before they're gone

BTM has the vengeance rated almost exactly the same as the sting in all categories, FWIW. BJI, on the flip side, says the vengeance is a little longer and stronger.

I wanted a Sting and almost bought one, but refrained from doing so because of it's low differential in it's 12-13 lb balls of which I have to throw because of back issues. Even when I used to throw 14-15 lb balls, I have always fared better with higher differential balls.

Every new ball seems to be rated as "a little longer and stronger". What makes the Sigma Sting special is the fact that it isn't "Long and Strong". It's a nice smooth movement down the lane with a decent back end consistently shot after shot.

I always know what it's going to do when it leaves my hand. If I throw it well, it doesn't surprise me by squirting past the break point for a wash out and it doesn't suddenly jump into the face of the head pin for a big split.

Motiv's own chart for length, backend and hook for each ball are virtually identical.
Sting: Length - 15, Backend - 17.5, Hook - 53
Vengeance: Length - 15, Backend - 18, Hook 53

Jim,

In that case, you might want to consider the Vengeance in 13 lbs. The RG is close to the Sting but the differential is much high, .044 vs. .032

I have a Sigma Sting with not that many games on it.  I have had it de-oiled and resurfaced.  It has had an early death.  I plan to trade it in.  The same can be said for the Primal Rage.  They have died.

I have two Sigma Stings and both have a ton of games on them, probably around 400 or more with no issues. Have never de-oiled either one, just wipe between shots and clean when I finish bowling. My Primal Rage doesn't have near the number of games, but it hasn't been an issue either.

Perhaps your's came from a bad batch.
