I see no reason to beat a dead horse.  These balls were well taken care of and have lost their reaction.  I am pleased that you have nad no issues.

I have a Sigma Sting with not that many games on it.  I have had it de-oiled and resurfaced.  It has had an early death.  I plan to trade it in.  The same can be said for the Primal Rage.  They have died.

Hope that doesn't happen to me!! I just bought mine today and well, I'm very pleased with the reaction, versatile and control is the word I'd use to describe it plus hits pretty ahrd the pins

I have two Sigma Stings and both have a ton of games on them, probably around 400 or more with no issues. Have never de-oiled either one, just wipe between shots and clean when I finish bowling. My Primal Rage doesn't have near the number of games, but it hasn't been an issue either.

Perhaps your's came from a bad batch.

I have a Sigma Sting. Like Milo, I wipe the ball before each shot and clean the ball with Clean n' Dull or Valentino's Remedy after each series. I de-oiled the Sting after the first 40 games and was surprised at how little oil was extracted. The ball surface slightly glistened with a trace of oil.

Azaelv, you probably do not have to worry. Just wipe the Sting between shots and clean it after every series.

Having extensive experience with the Detox oil extraction unit, Motiv soaks up oil the slowest of any ball company, and having used Motiv in the past, their covers retain reaction for a very long time and take well to surface changes.  There is some other factor here causing those balls to lose their reaction.  A shop co-worker of mine is on with Motiv, and he DID have his Sting lose reaction, but after 30 minutes in the Detox, it was acting brand new.  I would also expect the Jackal to soak oil up faster than the other covers.

ITZPS, thanks for the post. Motiv's standard warranty advises not to expose the ball at a temperature beyond 125 degrees. I put the Sting in my Nu Ball unit for a full hour at 125 degrees and got virtually no oil.

I rarely if ever get any oil out of a Motiv ball.  Even my co-worker's Sting that I put in there got very little out.  However, there's an Accelerator solution that goes in there as well that slightly changes the frequency of the ultrasound, plus has a deep cleaner in it.  So while I see responses out of other bowling balls that seem to react more directly to the amount of oil that is removed, Motiv balls that have "died" are revived as equally as other company's balls, but the lack of oil that comes out is what puzzles me.  The reaction is very obviously restored, but oil removed is usually very minimal.

If the Sigma Sting is so popular, why would they discontinue it?

Probably some shiny new toy planned for that spot in their line up. Sigma Sting is the best ball I have used.

I second that.  It's one of the top 3 balls I have ever used.

How do the people that love this ball have it drilled up?

Any weight hole?  What kind of reaction do you get with this layout off of friction? What are your speed, Rpm, PAP, axis and rotation stats?
