Title: TAG + MOtion hole + Polish = New Ball
Post by: J_w73 on August 20, 2015, 12:23:57 PM
I was ready to give up on my TAG but decided to put a hole in it to see if it would do anything.  I put a small motion hole in it and applied some polish by hand.  I tossed it last Friday and the ball actually looked decent.  So I decided to go with a bit bigger hole and take the ball back to 2000/4000/ and polished.  Threw the ball on Paris last night and it actually did exactly what it was supposed to. My other stuff was going too early so I switched to the Tag.  It got down the lane easier than my other stuff and actually made a nice hard turn to the pocket.  Now I want to try it on a house shot to see how it looks.

I'm surprised at how much the weight hole changed the reaction as it didn't really increase the flare much.  That is two balls now where a weight hole turned a dud reaction into maybe a keeper.

+1 vote for Mohole in general. Same result on my AMF Darkness and Radical Torrid Affair.

This is a great example of why it still boggles my mind that people sell balls after a couple of games without trying surface changes or hole placements.

My Shock is drilled pin in the ring with a motion hole. The ball is a beast. I had several bowlers tell me I ruined a great ball. I don't think so. I don't use it all the time, but it normally proves to be a great ball when it comes out. I try to keep the surface around 3000 with light polish.

I'm debating on adding a hole on at least one of my Tags. The balls were great out of the box. Still good but I think they could use a touch more pop on the back end. But we'll see. I haven't resurfaced them yet. That will likely do it.
