Is it true?
« on: January 31, 2010, 12:37:29 PM »
After seeing a few videos and reading what others have said about the balls, I have one question. Do the balls really have a distinctive sound and better carry when they hit the pins? Is that due to the the Reverb outer core? Just curious as I'm looking to getting back into bowling during the summer after recuperating from a minor injury last summer.

I've had a GT1 and just picked up an SR2. I have been amazed at some of the hits I've carried. Balls go into the pocket on an angle that looks like a 10 pin is coming. Once the ball enters the pit, there is nothing standing. I had a great weekend bowling tournaments and used nothing but the GT1 and SR2. Looking at picking up an SX or TX this week. Just haven't made my mind up yet.

I have the GT1 and it''s just a bowling ball. Nothing really any different than any other brand of bowling ball. I hits hard when you make a good shot and just like with other balls, you can occasionally get some slop. No better or worse. Don''t get me wrong, I find Motiv to be quality equipment, but we all have to remember, "It''s the Archer, not the Arrow" that usually makes the difference.

Being a high rev player(495RPM), I generally don't have issues making balls hit hard.  I have noticed a distinct difference in the sound of impact.  I have also noticed a difference in carry, the pins stay lower and off hits carry more than other brands I have thrown.

Motiv makes high very quality equipment. If you have the right match up with the lane the carry is phenomenal. The sound maybe a little different. The sound of all 10 falling is always great to hear. I had a tournament this weekend that I was not coming out of the ball my best. Stickling a little. I had the purple QZ1 that matched up great and scored very good.

Not tried Motiv yet but I think with some companies it can vary sometimes. The newest ball I've purchased when it came out was the Hammer Jigsaw and it had a distinctive harder hit and different sound from any other ball I've thrown. It doesn't happen often for me that I really notice something like that.(brother got one and had the same opinion)

I say if it is the case it is always a plus and worth a try.

I drilled a SR2 for me and I was not expecting the ball to be as strong as it turned out to be. I drilled a TR2 for my friend and he's was averaging in the 217 range with all new 900 Global stuff I drilled him at the start of the season. In the last month that he's been using the TR2 and QZ1 Red with the shot starts to burn, he hasn't shot under 680+ with a high of 760. What impressed me with the TR2 is the messengers that he flying across the pin deck from both directions! I'm drilling a new SR2 for me now that I know how strong it is and I gave my old one to my friend and he shoots 279 with a pocket 8 pin and 720 on a tough shot that breaks down quick! I've drilled a lot of balls lately and Motiv is very impressive and worth a look! I have a TX1 on the way to go with my new SR2. Just my $.02, Bruce
