This seems to be a common comment about this ball.  My PSO drilled one for himself and is unable to use it on a THS.  Too angular. 

Was bowling next to a guy a couple of weeks ago with one, and he said he has not yet found a shot with enough oil to use it consistently.  He throws it in practice for fun, but not in leagues.

A family member has one.  Pin 2" above bridge, CG in grip center.  OOB finish plus light polish.  Ball goes very long, but when it flips, it flips!  Awesome carry when it hits.

I had that problem ceith the good old critical theory..had to polish it. 

Perhaps the Redline is more angular than people expected.  Hopefully this knowledge will assist the future purchases in setting up the ball correctly.  But isn't angular what the general public wants.  And if you look at Motiv's lineup, the difference in reaction shape between the Forza and the Octane is pretty wide.  As more and more Redlines are drilled, the proper set up will be easier to obtain.

I remember the Frantic when it came out.  For me, that ball was a skid/snap disaster.  In hindsight, perhaps the surface prep and drilling could have set the ball up better for me.  Unfortunately I didn't have any knowledge to go by other than a hybrid of the Furious and Fast.

If the intent is to have this be a benchmark ball, then the drilling probably shouldn't be a "skid/flip" type drilling the way most bowlers have their equipment drilled.  90% of equipment at our house is "pin-up".  Drill the ball according to the purpose and hopefully it will be as needed.  If bowlers are able to smooth the reaction out closer to what they see from the Forza, then the versatility of the Redline will be great.  But we will have to wait and see.
