thoughts on this for a 3 ball arsenal for next season
« on: April 26, 2015, 10:33:46 AM »
So I injured my arm last year and we deemed the issue to be a bad fit. So since everything I have is 3 years + old I have been given the okay to get me a new 3 ball arsenal for next year.

About me. I am a more rev dominant player. Video of me tossing the recon. It is old but still pretty similar.

But here is what I am looking to do for my 3 ball arsenal for next year.

Heavy- Revolt vengence or covert revolt.

Medium- Forza. this ball is already purchased and punched up with a new span. Rolls amazingly and performs great in this spot

Light- Tag- I am looking to use this to replace the recon which is my go to ball and can be used on a wide range of shots for me.

Thoughts? I am thinking about putting the same drilling on all 3 as I love the way it rolls for me.

Thanks for the response. The recon for me has been a go to for awhile. The ball rolls awesome on a lot of conditions.

I really do like the look of the venom shock. I would just be worried of a lot of overlap between it and the tag for me.

I think the forza after throwing it could end up being my heavier oil ball.

I believe strength-wise, the Tag will be a little weaker than the Venom Shock, but the shapes each provide are very different.  There will be plenty of fresher conditions where the Shock will provide a significantly better look than the Tag.  And when it comes to flatter conditions, the control at the breakpoint the Shock provides (compared to the Tag) will be very beneficial.

I personally wouldn't worry about overlap between the Shock and the Tag unless all you will ever see is the exact same THS every week and nothing else.  A lot of balls can be made to look the same on THS.

For sure.

Any idea the difference between the shock and toxin?

The Toxin and the Shock share the same spot in the line-up, but at different times in Motiv's history.  Motiv had great cores early on but their covers could not compete with the Storms/EBI/Brunswick covers at the time.  Consequently, the complete lineup was a little weaker overall when compared to other companies complete lineup.

The Toxin is a great ball with a shape similar to the Venom Shock, but the Venom Shock cover is stronger and the ball in general is more predictable with the Turmoil MFS coverstock.  This is especially apparent on flatter shots.

In the current Motiv lineup, the Toxin would fit in a space between the Shock and the original Ascent in strength.  In fact, I feel Motiv needs a ball similar to the solid Ascent it used to have.  But that is a different story.

I gotcha. I have a toxin hanging out on my current bag that doesn't get thrown much. I can't carry with it to save my life so looking to Redrill it.
