to drill, or not to drill...

So I've come into possession of a NIB Primal TV4. I've been through the reviews on here, which seem to be saturated by staffer reviews mostly. Just curious from anyone who has some experience with this thing, should I drill it or sell it? Lets hear your opinions...thanks in advance!

For me the tv4 was a heavy rolling piece, OOB 2000 w polish it cleared the heads good. Hada 4.5" pin under it picked up nice at mid lane with a nice backend reaction. I put about 100 games on mine and scored real well with it. Changed it once to 2k abralon new pad and rolled even heavier and of course earlier.

Depends on how bad you need the piece, probably better options since it's around 4 years old , but it was a unique ball. Hope this helps.

"need" is definitely not the word. Lol. I've got all kinds of stuff, but the "why not" part of my brain will probably win this time lol. I've always liked unique.

The ball is unique.  And even though my wife is on staff, I feel that maybe you should evaluate the possibility of selling it.  The reason why is because some of the early Motiv pieces are very much in demand for by the Motiv faithful.  Also, the current line up (starting with the Primal Rage) has much better coverstocks than the earlier balls.  This is my opinion, but the Primal Rage was a landmark ball for Motiv.  They have always had great cores, but their coverstocks were lacking (not comparable to Storm / Roto / Brunswick).  Now they are.

I would just test the waters to see what it is worth before making a decision.  And just to be clear, I am not interested.  ;)

You pretty much summed up why I haven't put holes in it yet. Seems like it's just old enough right now to not be in huge demand, but not be worthless either. Fast forward a year or two and maybe the demand, ultimately is much higher.

I agree, though, about the covers. Pre-rage, iffy was the best way to describe them. Which is the cause for the hesitation. I only threw one motiv prior to the rage, it was the QZ1. I was less than impressed. I've since re-drilled it and actually like it really well.  Torn...lol.

Mine was a lot stronger than I expected even with pin above middle finger. It turned the corner very hard and it was at the early stage of the Primals and only a few seasons old.

If you can get $150 or more for it is it really worth keeping? I always answer no lol

They are selling for around $100 right now on Ebay. GLC bowling has a few in stock.

If you have not used on Matt, you might want to try it. I have two of them drilled, one pin up and one pin down. I find them very useful on light/short patterns. Very even rolling and predictable like every other Thrust core ball I have used. I think this one was Motiv's first pearl cover.
