Is anyone else having getting Motiv balls right now? I have tried to buy a Jackal and
have been told that none of the west coast distributors have any--for various reasons.
Anyone else having a problem?
-
My pso has multiple
-
The ball is a beast. Not sure what else to say
-
My PSO hasn't had any issues ordering them. 1-2 day shipping usually.
-
Ok. 699 first night out. Wow. The ball may be the best Motiv I have thrown yet
-
Differense between revolt and vengeance?
-
I"m ordering mine next week. Can't wait.
-
The vengeance is much cleaner with more pop on the back. I stayed with it all night which I can't do with Covert. The deeper I got the harder it finished and had more than enough angle to carry the 10. On the fresh last night it was a good 2+ feet longer, throwing the exact same line. I hit the surface with a 4000 pad before I started. It makes a great move on the back without it looking like someone kicked it. I was very impressed and very satisfied. If you like the Covert you will love this one. Has the same carry and hit. The continuation is awesome.
-
Vince: I noticed your vengeance layout is very close to your covert plus you hit the vengeance with 4000.
They are still a good 1-2 punch I assume?
My revolt is my best look, 70/5/55. Was gonna try longer p2p on vengeance. Cut the flare a little more to compliment the cover.
-
I went a bit longer pin to pap 3/4 inch more. I think they are a good 1-2 punch if you have oil. Honestly I couldn't be more impressed. I really like my Covert Revolt but I loved the look the vengeance gave me. It's not too often I wake up the next morning and am still thinking about it.
I think the vengeance is going to be one of those balls for me I won't be able to put down. It's rare that I throw one ball for a full set. This ball just kept coming from any angle. The Covert has great continuation but the vengeance was like another level. If I push a few out too far right, the Covert would come back and ring a 10 and I would know it instantly, I did it a few times last night and it was like the Vengeance went into another gear and tripped it. My pso bowls in the same league and he kept coming and watching it. He only got in one and I think he was sorry he didn't drill it for himself. Lol
The Ob surface didn't look polished at all. I always hit a new ball on my spinner so I know where its at. After I hit with a 4000 it really didn't look any different. The two revolts have very different shapes so having both is great. Im really happy with my move to Motiv except I haven't been thrilled with anything they have under the Shock. Didn't like the tribal fire and not crazy about apex.
I've been telling people that the Covert and Shock are two of the better balls I've ever owned with now the Vengeance possibly topping both. Amazing equipment.
-
Have you considered trying a polish with a slip agent in them on the Apex. Something like neo tac control it. When I'm trying to slow a ball down downlane it works wonders. I think these types of polishes are far underused. Many people just go with a typical polish which adds length but doesn't slow the downlane reaction at all. I think it's something worth trying on the Apex.....
-
Actually, I just used Valentinos UFO polish and it helped it....I think the cover is way too strong for the core...What I was seeing was the cover read the friction way too quick and then it looked like it over powered the core, the ball is weird smooth for me....the UFO did help it get down lane better and its still smooth...I need to throw it more like this....I went 4000 and polish(snake oil) on my blackout and its great under the Shock
-
Ive never used ufo but ive heard it's good. Figured that would help. I know ufo isn't supposed to clog the pores like control it not sure if control it would slow it down even more or not.....

Why you didn't like the Fire?
-
For me the Cover was too quick to respond to friction without polish but with polish didn't handle oil well enough. I tried multiple surfaces and polishes and either it was too long or too early. I think that cover doesnt match up with my game
-
What layout was on the Fire?
-
40x5x60. P3

How would you define your game? I got one recently and haven't drilled yet...
-
I'm 15-16 mph. 350 rev. 45 rotation 26 tilt. With my tilt I usually don't have an issue getting the ball down lane. I normally don't use any polish and couldn't get the fire down lane once the first game was over, the cover was very fast to read friction. I even drilled it with a longer pin to pap for me. When I polished it, it wouldn't pick up hard enough on fresh and over reacted on the dry. I had a much easier time with the vengeance cover last night at 4000.
Keep in mind not every ball matches up with every person. I see many many people who love it. I just didn't. That doesn't make it bad.

So I tried Motiv this year after throwing mostly Rotocrip last season. I had toyed with the change, then decided I was pretty comfortable with the RG stuff, and was going to stay with that......then I won a Tribal Fire. Perfect opportunity to give the brand a try. I had that drilled and really liked the way it rolled for me. What puzzled me was it seemed much stronger than a light/dry condition ball. It rolled very early for me at the center I bowl in, so took some getting used to. Well because of the way it rolled I went and bought a Primal Rage and have had a lot of fun with that ball. I really like the continuation and hitting power the Motivs have for me. Because of the shape and strength of the TF, I felt I still needed something that would allow me to move way right when the heads are fried, so I now have an Ascent Apex added to the arsenal.
Here is the frustration. Seems like every new release, the balls just get better and better! I know I don't really "need" them, but sure would like to try to keep up with all the new ones too!! LOL It's like a drug and I'm becoming addicted. I was thinking I would get myself a Jackal to add to the upper end of the arsenal...but I normally don't see enough oil for that. And now this ball?? So confused (but in a fun way)!! Keep up the good work Motiv!! (hmmm?? Revolt Vengeance or Jackal? Or even Octane??) haha

You can always drill the ball with a longer pin to pap to control the flair and save the energy. Also larger angels allow the Motiv balls to be used on lighter patterns. All the covers take surface or polish very well so you have lots of ways to make the Motiv balls fit your game and the house you are bowling in. Plus you get to get a new toy to play with as often as you like. Go Motiv
-
With me being higher tilt I usually dont drill long pin to pap's because I have a hard time controlling them, but I am seeing that motivs stuff is smoother than Storm/roto and looks like I can do it.
Get the Vengeance!!!!

Just seen this post and saw you have the Haywire on your list. How does the covert vengeance compare to the haywire. Or to the Covert Revolt. Also seen you post the venom shock was a weaker covert revolt. Was just curious how the tribal would compare to the venom shock. I have the tribal and was wondering if the venom shock would be a better compliment to my Covert Revolt.
-
The Haywire is much stronger and earlier than the Vengeance or Covert.....The Venom Shock is a must have ball....
-
To those of you that own this ball, does it remind you of anything from Storm/Roto?
I have one coming and I have never used a Motiv ball before so I was wondering where it might fit in?
By the way, is this a pretty good choice for my first Motiv ball.
House bowler bowling at a house with AMF Syn/Stone St and Brunswick Syn/shorter pattern than the AMF house.
Currently have,
Critical Theory
IQ Tour
IQ Fusion
IQ 30th coming
Uproar
With the IQ Tour being my main ball this year...Just got the CT
I sounds like it will be like my Fusion but go longer and a bit more angular.
Thoughts?
-
Stronger than Fusion but similar motion I think. I'd say pretty similar to the Marvel Pearl and Optimus, pretty close to a polished Asylum maybe?
