Venom Shock
« on: December 13, 2016, 01:22:08 PM »
Bought a new ball today. As a christmas and birthday presant to myself xD
(Got bday on new year's eve)
It's most likely the last Venom Shock Tore Torgersen will sell. He said it's a great ball, and he has sold so many of it.
(I know they've stopped making the ball of course, I just wanted a light oil ball from what he had brought with him from Sweden) He was supposed to bring the Track Paradox solid, but had brought the Hybrid instead.
Oh well, I'm bowling better with lower oil balls these days anyway.
Trying it out for real tomorrow at the last practice of the year with the club.
Most used:
Motiv Venom Shock (14)
DV8 Grudge Hybrid (14)
Hammer Scandal (14)
DV8 Freakshow (14)

Sometimes.
C300 Swerve (14)
Motiv Jackal LE (14)

Retired:
Roto Grip Sinister (13)
Motiv Jackal (14)

Given to a no-thumber in the club:
Brunswick T-zone (13)

Might stick with Motiv from now on.

Hmm? I'm not sure about international releases but none of the stateside Paradox balls are solids. First one was a sanded hybrid, second was a polished pearl, and third is a polished hybrid.

Oh ups, should've done some more research :P
He had the original paradox with him, it said Hybrid on the box and I thought the original was a solid ball.
Oh well, I have the Scandal for times when there's too much oil for my medium oil balls at least. And the Scandal probably hooks more than the original Paradox does.
I don't need more heavy oil balls anyway, we don't play on more than medium anyway so.
The Venom Shock is for light to medium. The Freakshow is for Medium to light.

Thank, God!!!!

The Shock is still listed on Motiv's web site and on at least 3 of the internet web sites from which I order. Whew! Dodged a bullet there.

Per ThomasBowling....the Venom Shock is for light to medium.  The Freakshow is for medium to light.
Is there a difference?

Light to medium, meaning it's best for light oil, but can work on medium too, but with less hook on it.
Medium to light, meaning it'll work the best on medium, but can work on light too, but will hook less on light.
With the style I have, I will notice a diffrence between the balls.
If you got a shit ton of revs and the tilt of the ball is for best hook, then these 2 balls won't be diffrent for you, but that's not me.

The Venom Shock hooks early, and the Freak Show hooks late.

One game with it this evening.
Can't really say much about it. Didn't hook much, and the oil was very light.
Hope it'll hook more eventually, or else I'll have to get Tore to plug it back up again and give me another layout, with the pin below the finger holes.
No point for me to have another ball that hooks late, already have a few with such a hook.

Be patient with it....  I also had the same problem the first time I used mine;  but after taking it to another house and lightly hitting mine with a light 2000, WALA!   It's all that it's advertised to be, such a great benchmark piece, its a wonder that its been around this long.

This ball just flat out works, one of the most even strong, yet predictable your fund in a piece. It's a hyroad,  just more even and more forward roll.

I hate the oB surface on all Motiv balls....im not sure what it is. I scuffed my Venom shock lightly with a 3000 wet pad and it came to life! great ball! I still have 2 NIB put away

Could you post a pic of your ball, to show what layout you have on it.

It reacted better on the surface I was playing on, on Sunday.
Though I didn't like that early hook it had. I prefer the kind of hook I get with my Freakshow. Delayed or late.
So I'll probably buy a new ball after the summer break.

How do you have it laid out?  What surface did you change it to?  And what type of lane conditions/ patterns do you use it on to get a better idea how it's responding?
