Motiv coverstock system attributes explained.
« on: January 19, 2011, 05:02:07 AM »
There are three categories I will address in this topic:

 Oil Absorption Rate
 Chemical/Mechanical Landscape
 Overall Strength

The overall strength of a coverstock is dependent on several factors, but the primary ones are Chemical/Mechanical Landscape(Ra + Rs) and Oil Absorption Rate. Most will be primarily concerned with overall performance, but rating the covers with the other factors will provide some insight into the how and why.

All ratings are from strongest or roughest, to weakest or smoothest.

 Oil Absorption Rate(OAR)

 Formula 5
 Motivator-T
 Motivator-R
 Vicious
 Motivator-Z
 Motivator-X

 Chemical/Mechanical Landscape(CML)

 Vicious

 Motivator-X

 Overall Strength(OS)

Where do the Raptor P7 and Raptor Talon covers stand?

I am shocked how strong the P7 cover with that predator core is. I have tried quite a few other manufacturers strong balls and they are weaker than my Raptor P7. (Defiant, Nano, Wicked Encounter)

I was TOTALLY dumbfounded when the Talon came and it was STRONGER than the P7.

Absolutely shocked!!! don

I was looking at the Talon but spoke to a friend who has the P7 and he said the cover lost its punch after a while. Can anyone tell me if this is common with the heavy oil Motiv balls?
thanks

It's common with EVERY heavy oil ball made today, unless you clean after every use with good deep cleaner and you do an oil extraction every 50 -100 games!
