I had a huge variance last year just at Nottkes alone..  We bowled March/April..  Had tons of room and plenty of hook..  Shot 660-680 or so.. Bowled the final squad and 204 games were winning all the pots..  Tried to slow roll it up 8 and was taking out the 6-10..  Played like Badger, lol.. M-66 was consistent all 3 or 4 times I bowled, just carry sucked with the Twisters (Which they got rid of this week)  So, hopefully they can be consistent in Muskegon this year, what are the patterns?

You sure? Last few years it's been on beat'n path, and before the latest update to the state tourney website I could have sworn that that's what it said it was to be this year too.

yes it is Sunset Strip..  they changed it up after last yr..  from what I've heard lol, the powers that be thought it would induce better scores lol, but it's actually flatter than the Beaten Path..  Hence why i heard the first weekend, the scores was very low..

yea i think they tried the USBC white for a year or two and i honestly didnt hear anything great about it..   but i think the one year was over in Monroe at the split house with two different sets of lanes lol...

if anyone is expecting the scores to be like last yr.. i think going to be in for a real eye opener...  i heard from a good source that "they"  opened up the pattern last yr, hence why it played so easy and why the scores went thru the roof..

well it didnt go as well as i would have hoped. 520 and 540 in doubles and singles.  550 in team. the pattern wasnt very heavy volume wise i ended up throwing the same ball i throw in league which is  a nomad dagger with a weight hole.  i started with a scream up about 8 board. wasnt a bad look but very touchy. then went to a shatter and then to the nomad  dagger playing across the middle. i will tell you this the backends are crazy. take the smoothest ball you have. the backends only got worse as the second set went along. just the opposite of what i  was expecting.  i was moving left as the day went to keep it on the right of head pin. i aw lots of missed one pin spares because people couldnt keep up with the backends. for team at sherman i started with the dagger and had a good look( should have started with this both days) stayed with it for the 3 games. line didnt change much but there is not much miss room in this pattern. if you pull it at all it wont hold. if you get it right it wont come back. for the most part people were playing in the middle.

Ok... Just got done with first session of singles/ doubles and went 226-181-164..  then went 257-183-244..   i started with my 811ct and had a nice look but just had a few durr moments in game 2/3 and finally went to my 300a towards mid game 3..and should of switched earlier...had a nice look when i got lined up...   i will say the lanes got dry fast and i ended up standing 45 and going over 5th arrow and basically had the whole right side with the 300a... Made some pot $ and some money in brackets...now i am off to Sherman for team event

Ok, so here is a update of what happened this weekend...

Saturday @ Northway Lanes,  in doubles i went 226 - 181 - 164, when i look back on this set i probably should of switched balls earlier or made a move left earlier... probably switching balls would of been the right idea..

In singles I went with a different ball, after using a different ball from the middle of the third game on and just took a bit to get lined up.... but went 257 - 183 - 244.. in the second game i just didnt keep up with the transition.. which was a mental note going into sunday!!!!   but i did get the high game scratch and handicap pot with the 257... but only netted 100$ lol...  But on the plus side, i pocketed 120$ from brackets... made my $ back in doubles from 8 brackets, and got into 12 brackets in singles and made 161$   so not a bad day..   I kick myself in this set cuz with the ball and where i was playing on the lane i had the world!!!  had tug and swing room...

@ Sherman lanes, i was feeling pretty good, but in practice i felt my bicep tightening up which was not a good sign... and midway through the first game it was bad.. and somehow i managed to finish out the set, but only threw a 493 series lol... which for someone who could barely get the ball down the lane, it was amazing that some of the guys on the pair only beat me by 20 to 80 pins...  But the lanes were very playable!!!!

Sunday!!!!   well my day started off not even knowing if i would be able to throw the ball worth a damn lol, but my bicep did feel better!!!  now considering my day started off with me getting a flat tire as i went over the Grand Haven bridge .... you would of though that would be a Omen of things to come!!   lol

I get to Northway lanes and do not get into any brackets or pots..  Practice starts and I can actually get the ball down the lane and i feel good!!

In doubles I actually started out 3 boards left of what i did saturday..  and go 218 - 245 while staying ahead of the transition... and my partner has 472 after 2 games.. BOOM!!!!!     going into game we are both feeling really good..  my partner finished with a 213 game for 685, and I finish with a 225 game for 688 for a total of 1373 + my handicap of 78 pins and his of 70... for a combined total of 1521 !!!    and I stuck with the same ball i used saturday too...

in singles i switched to the same ball I did saturday and had the same reaction ( insert me being very happy ) and proceed to go 238 - 225 and i am in the third game and feeling really good and end up going durrrrrrr in the 8th frame and 10th frame, when i tug two shots that go through the nose for a whopping 177 game..... FML!!!  if i would of went off the sheet, i think i would of been in the 230's or 240's  and had a good chance of being in the lead for singles scratch...   or atleast close to it...   But over all still felt good about my bowling..

And then onto Sherman lanes again for another Team session... And started off with the same ball i was using in singles again...  And have a good line!!  and start off with a 224 game with two opens in the 6th n 8th frames from durr moments..  but still feeling good..  And then i proceed to get in the way of my own success and roll games of 177 and 159... loss of carry and tugging the ball was my down fall... FML!!!!!

Besides that, i honestly bowled on the condition as though it was a house shot....

thanks for the update a group of guys from my area took the team lead this weekend with one guys shooting 816 and another shooting 806.  Doesn't sound like Sunset strip with all the free hook?  We are going March 8t-9th and then again in April 12-13th.  Looks like I will need some weaker type stuff to play in with.

Hosel,   yea i got into Sherman as they mid way thru game 3...  and yea they was killin it.... i guess low guy was like 7 - something for series....   i heard they shot like 34something scratch plus whatever they had for handicap...  which put them over 3700....

As for the pattern play.... @ Sherman the pattern did have a OB and if you hit it, you was 2-8-10'n or worse...  and depending on how bad your tug is, you could miss the head pin..  Northway's played the same...but the OB wasnt as bad...

As for equipment, honestly I heard two different things... then seen guys score with High end stuff and everything in between...
