2014 WI State Tournament

Anybody been there yet? Not asking how to play the lanes, just wondering what your feelings are to what you've found?

Thanks Scott. Good luck next weekend. Give impressions of the two centers if you have a chance when you get back.

michigan used the Beaten Path for their state tournament in 2010 and in 2013..  last yr the scores were stupid high lol...  now michigan uses " tournament " averages instead of your regular usbc avg...  and splits up the divisions to 180 and under and 181 and over... and we had guys in the upper division who was getting 400+ pins of handicap shooting 1900+  scratch..

I honestly played the Beaten Path like a house shot.. you do have a bit of OB around board 7 .. depending on the lanes.. but the shot is pretty easy..

I'm bowling on 3/8-9th.  I'm a little sad it's in Milwaukee because I don't have to travel.  Staying at a hotel with the team is half the fun.

Everyone, keep everyone posted!

Anybody been to state recently and have any observations? Also, has anyone found any places (bars) etc., that were fun to go to or had good entertainment?

I'm from Waukesha so I can tell you some good places to go.

Drink as little as possible at Bowlero...they will gauge you with pricing under the new ownership..i'm talking $7 for a tall Blue Moon bad.  I bowl my regular league there and we are moving to a different house next year.

Here are my suggestions.....

On State Street..about 2-3 Miles from Bowlero there are 3 really nice bars/restaurants..Colonel Harts (they are my league sponsor) Leff's Luckytown, and Saz's.

If you are staying near Mayfair Mall, there is a BW3's and Dave and Busters right across the street from the mall.

I could list some more things if you were staying downtown.

Thanks tennispro, for the info. We are staying at the Radisson Milwaukee West near the Mayfair Mall. My group is generally in their 40s to 50s in age and they like to have a good time. In many instances we have trouble finding fun places to drink or listen to music that fits our age bracket. Since we are from north of Eau Claire we don't know Milwaukee that well and welcome any suggestions.

No problem-you are in a great location to find stuff to do.

I would recommend going down State St to some of those bars I mentioned if you want to go somewhere other than a big "chain" place, but a few other recommendations I can think of are:

1.  If you want some drinks for the hotel room-Ray's Wine and Spirits is 1 mile from the Mall and is one of the best liquor stores in the state.
2.  PF Chang's has really good food and is located at the mall.
3.  Mo's Irish Pub is pretty good and is on the corner of Mayfair Rd and Bluemound-probably only a mile away from you or so too.
4.  If you guys are into craft beer, I could direct you to a few locations in Milwaukee that you might also like.

Your only problem for the weekend will be dealing with terrible service and pricing at Bowlero.  Village will be a better experience.

Let me know if you need anything else-maybe I'll see you on State Street :)

Great suggestions. It will make it a lot easier if we have some ideas of where to go before we get there. We've been to Bowlero twice before and wasn't too impressed either time. I wouldn't think we'll spend much time there. We will be in Milwaukee the weekend of April 11,12,13. Should be a good time! State Street sounds good!!

Mo's is always a good place to party
Downtown has alot to offer
the BW3 by mayfair is just yuk IMO, been there 2 times, just not worth it
just West of Bowlero is boulder junction bar & grill fro some decent food, decent price
got a few good beers on tap

So, I'm bowling team on Saturday and singles/doubles on Sunday.  I'm wondering if anybody has any advice.  I have a high rev rate with matched speed.

Current Arsenal (all at box surface):
Defiant Soul
iQ Tour Fusion
Berserk
Frantic

I'd imagine I should be able to throw the Soul and move the Fusion as needed.  Anybody have any advice?

Don't go in with thinking you will use a certain ball unless you have watched other bowlers there already.
Try and watch the squad before you especially on the lanes you are bowling on.

Also look to see who is on your squad if you are gonna get in brackets.

Get in the 3-6-9 and strike jackpots as well.
