Michigan State Tournament?????
« on: April 10, 2013, 02:16:25 PM »
Just curious who has been, what are you all seeing for ball reaction/shapes, what worked for you, brackets, side action, just general information....I know this is vague, but just what to hear opinions/comments. I used to bowl league at both houses but it has been years since I have set foot in either one....Thanks in advance folks!

I threw well, but little carry.  Either try a ball that will make a deep corner and slam the hole, or ram it in there down and in.  Afternoon mystery games will run over 400 per game.

Notke's bracket running was horrendously bad.

2nd shift team at m66 we got to use oil that was layed during 1st shift oiling, but not used, and the 5-6stupid hours the oil had to start evaporating made them play extremely weird, but they were great with the side pots

Brian, there is plenty of hook at 66.  I have bowled 3 times.  First set in January was using a Nexus just left of the track with a little swing.  Shot 220-218-188 or so.  Came out ahead in brackets. Somewhere in the 30s.

Bowled twice this weekend, shot a wonderful 550 in the morning, 0 in brackets, and 620s second set doubled my money in brackets (226-217-177) made it through 22 of 30.

The morning I was trying to play a similar line to the first time but ball was really jumpy.  Everything we all had on our pair was going sideways on the back end.  Tried using a Reax (too much for me), a Sigma Tour, was going dead left, Ascent Pearl, too weak, Wicked Seiged, again went sideways, Got too far left, had no recovery and carry, got too far right was 4-9 or through the face.  On lanes 13-14.

The afternoon, dad mentioned to try and "burn a spot around 7"..  Well I was the only one out there, as everyone moved in after like 4 practice balls (we were on the high end pair by ourselves.)  Just used a Pink Ascent with a long pin, kept the speed up and had a decent look as long as I got it off my hand clean.  If I tugged it, it was a frozen rope to the 1-3.  A really bad tug carried brooklyn.  No one else had 600 on our second set.  Everything else I tried from out went sideways as well.  I was standing around 10-12 looking at about 2-4..  We were on 55-56.

Have not bowled singles and doubles yet.  Hear the shot is a lot easier.  Applied with a Brunswick machine.

Team had tons of brackets both Scratch and Handicap.  Mystery game was around 250-450 depending on the squads.  Don't know how much high games were paying, but 66 was only paying 2 games for team?

66 has Twisters and they act like you think Twisters would.  Nottkes has crappy Linds' pins.

Thanks Joe. We bowl Saturday @3 and Sunday 1:30...I am taking only medium to med-weak stuff as I have heard they were hooking. Grego said he just got in a wheeled on it at both houses and went 2213 or something. Terry Rorher said the same thing from what he is hearing, but I wanted some info from other guys.....we will see how it goes, last year went 300/753 in singles....Odom shot 300 first game of doubles but then said his pair got shim-wrecked bad and had over/under from 5th frame of game 2 until the end....thanks again, I will let you know my experience.

Yeah I saw Curtis.  Didn't talk to him much about bowling though.  He was about 6 lanes down or so.  Which Grego?  John bowled our squad also.   He didn't have much either shift.

Well guys, it turned out to be a good weekend. The team house was tough as I figured it would be with those pesky twisters...mustered a little 584. Minors was a different story, got 4 of the 6 of us to play together and got them carved up the right way and we all bowled well. My wife went 651 (scratch) and me 696 (scratch) and we ended with 1462 handicap, not big but a good score. I then posted games of 247,279,288 for 814 to take over the optional scratch division lead. So, 2094 AE scratch, I will take it! The wife won 2 mystery games, 1 high game pot and had to split another high game pot. Brackets and pots were ran well, no issues that I saw/experienced....the weekend was profitable, for sure. Hope the score holds up!

when i bowled in Feb, I was lucky that for team event, the squad before mine only half of the house was being used, so I grabbed a lane and warmed up for 4 games.. And just played the shot like a THS!   which it basically was... I used my pin up 811c/t and went 248-284-200( durr )  in team...   And the team I was on had high set for the squad..

doubles / Singles was a bit trickier.... even though we only had 4 guys on our pair, they seemed to burn up really quick, so balling down came quick.. i started with my 811c/t again, but by the second game i was searching for a ball that could get down the lane..  By the end of the day I was playing 5th arrow and swinging it to 8...   but even in doubles / singles i went 613 / 616, middle games in both sets of 160's didnt help...

FYI, I fucking wish they would get rid of the stupid ass Tournament Average....
