Made it down for this tourney and wanted to give my $.02 - Mike and Karla both do a very nice job with this tournament. THS with some huge scores in qualifying - but also some very good players from SE WI and NE IL. He mentioned that he will be trying to move the date up earlier in the year next year to try and increase entries. Definitely worth the trip!! Now, if I can just work on making a 10 pin in match play..........

By the way, was nice to meet you Rick....

Chris - it was good to meet you, too.  I, too, think that Mike and Karla do a nice job on this tournament.  I'll be back.

bag - I couldn't get anything (mostly me) to work anywhere at Woodview.  When I had a decent look, I decided not to make spares.  Then, I just shut down and played badly overall.  I went to play the companion tournament at Streamwood on Monday.  I showed up at Woodview during the finals in time to see the same two guys win that won at Wheaton about a month ago.

Not to be demeaning, or sarcastic, but in the rules it is stated that it is open to all USBC sanctioned bowlers, if it's a scratch tournament, why do they need to be sanctioned.

for bonding purposes, usbc sanctioned tourney requres all bowlers to be usbc sanctioned to maintain the bonding procedure

Normally it means that if an unsanctioned person comes in, they'll have to buy a sanction.  But they may not have anyone there to handle new sanctions.

I know all the rules behind sanctioning leagues nad tournamnets, what I am asking you people is; if it is a scratch tournament what does it matter if I have a sanction card or not;

For bonding purposes it doesn't matter one bit if the bowler is sanctioned, it matters if the Tournament is;

As far as keeping tabs on people, weather or not he/she won over the alotted money for re-rating purposes, it is a scratch tournament, so that wont matter either.

As far as awards are concerned, take part of the prize fund and award it to the bowlers that actually shot something big. Doesn't have to be much. Let that money build up from year to year. If nobody shoots anything big, leave that money in the tournament for the following year.

Other than national recognition; why?
