There was a Mens Team Tournament scheduled on Sunday October the 29th. It was advertised in the windy city times. $2500 to win.
Well, we called to check on the tournament and see how many teams were entered on wednesday. They said they had 16 teams so far. We went up there for the 4pm squad and found the doors locked and only a few cars sitting outside. They had a small thing on their Marquee saying "Mens tourney cancelled".
These morons never called anyone to tell them the tournament was cancelled. We left a number when we registered over the phone .
To make a long story short, This type of thing like at River Grove Bowl is exactly the reson why bowling sucks today. They probably realized they might not have enough entries to make the purse so they cancel the tourney, and not tell anyone.
Any thoughts??

A little too general of a statement, maybe???
I think it was unfortunate that the people at the center chose to do things the way they did. Was the tournament actually run by the center, or was it run by an outside organization that didn't inform the center until it was too late???
I don't know what the reason was, but don't blame the entire downfall on bowling on this type of conduct.

That not the problem with bowling as a whole, but instead the problem with River Grove Bowl. Its a deadbeat center, part of the reason why its shutting down soon.

It's not the 1st and it wont be the last!!!!There has been many tournamnents that have been pulling shots like River Grove that have been hurting bowling.It's starting to become common place.BTW I was at the Showboat when the Marshalls came in and closed the place.That really sucked!!!
