Hoinke is canceled this season
« on: January 19, 2009, 08:19:07 AM »
The Hoinke is canceled this season.  I guess the alley is closing down in May.  That really sucks because it was always a fun tourney to shoot.  I'm hoping the Hoinke's chose a new location for next season and keep the tourney going.

The rumored sale of Western Bowl has been going on for a long time now..  Are you 100% certain that the sale has gone through and is actually closing?

I just got off the phone with western bowl.

The person that runs our squads for the Hoinke called and told me it was canceled.  So I called western bowl and asked about the sale of the bowling alley.  They didn't say the alley was bought but did tell me that it's closing in May and the tourney was canceled for this season.

I talked with Russ Hoinke last year and he told me if the alley gets sold he was going to probably run the tourney at another location.  He wasn't sure if it would be in Cinci or maybe another state.

I would be willing to bet the tourney will continue at another location.  I'm sure it's a money maker.  Russ Hoinke told me that the thourney #'s are down but that it still draws a lot of bowlers.  He said it's the leagues and open bowling that is way down.  The land western bowl sits on is valuble and it may make more sense to sell it.  However, they still have the rights to the tourney which could be ran at another alley in Cini or the surrounding area.

I was looking forward to the trip down to Cinci this season.  Always have a blast down their.

    Chitown,

The Ozark Open in Springfield, MO is usually pretty big.  Here is a link to the tournament:  http://www.greaterozarksbowling.com/

I'll be going there for the first time this Spring.

Just thought I'd add some information that I have...

You'll probably see my earlier post, but I am helping to run a smaller tournament in the Cincinnati area in March.  It's a 5-man team tournament paying $3000 first prize (based on 120 entries).

Please see http://www.mmlimotournament.com for more information.  I will be adding more information shortly for this tournament on the webpage.

Any questions...please contact me here or through the website.

    Thanks!
