PA State Tournament
« on: April 26, 2019, 09:17:50 PM »
Has anyone bowled in the State tournament in Erie yet?
Thoughts?  Assume it will be a modified house shot again?
Thanks!

I was there last weekend.
Fresh oil each squad this year.  Very slick conditions.  Most people (including me) didnt have enough surface.  Playable, but bring something strong.

I'n your opinion is it better to play up the boards or swing it?

Hey.. sorry.  For me, there wasnt an option to swing it.  Wouldn't come up for me.  I ended up playing up 5,6,7 board area with a scuffed up Conspiracy solid (fortunately I have a 1500 grit pad in my bad).
I didnt really even move until game 5 of singles (bowl doubles first this year).  Finally, there was a bit of dry developing - I switched to my Squatch and was able to swing a little.
That being said, I randomly drew lane assignments and bowled (both days) with multiple folks who were either throwing plastic or urethane down the middle.  I think a group playing a similar line could break it down faster and have some decent room.

I agree that it wasnt that hard, but just much more volume than I typically see.

Well, I like to play up the boards so maybe the shot will suit my game a little better.

I thought the shot was pretty even and fair at both houses. You could pretty much play anywhere except out passed the 5 board, that was the out of bounds area. I played fairly straight up the 10 to 12 boards, I just couldn't string any strikes together. It would either be some sort of pocket 9 count or I missed my mark. All in all I bowled 176 pins over my average and I'm happy with that.
