It is that time again. The 3rd annual B/W Summer Scratch Classic will held August 14-15, 2010. We have two changes for this year, entry fee and venue. This year''s event will be held at Greenway Bowl in Odenton, MD and the entry fee will be $150 (was $140). The entry fee increase is due to the new lineage cost. Last year we had bowlers come from MD/VA/DC/NC/MA/NY/NJ/DE/WV/PA/CT/FL/KS. DON''T GET SHUT OUT OF THIS GOOD TOURNAMENT WITH A GREAT PRIZE FUND!

2008 - 139 entries Champion: Troy Lint (Lancaster, PA) $3,000
2009 - 148 entries Champion: Tony Bennett (Worcester, MA) $3,000

Two squads of qualifying (9:30am & 4:30pm) Max of 76 bowlers per squad.
Re-entries are permitted providing there are spots available on the 4:30pm squad.
Lanes will be stripped and re-oiled after 9:30am squad.

Tournament pattern: 2007 USBC Masters
Lane surface: HPL (40 Lanes)

Format: 8 games of qualifying across 16 lanes. Cut to xx bowlers to match-play finals on Sunday. ALL PINFALL FROM QUALIFYING CARRIES FORWARD TO MATCH-PLAY. Match-play finals will consist of 9 games, round-robin match-play with the winner of each match receiving 50 bonus pins (Ties will be awarded 25 pins each). The bowler with the highest total pinfall with bonus pins after match-play will be the tournament champion.

 
  • Entry fee - $150 ($120 prize fund, $30 lineage & expenses) PAYABLE BY CASH ONLY
  • 1:5 cash ratio (1:7 make match-play finals)
  • Brackets - $5/ea , 3 sets (games 2-4, 4-6, 6-8)
  • High game jackpots - $40 (Covers all 8 games of qualifying)
  • Survival boards - $10/ea (Starting games 2, 4 & 6)
  • Winner Take All (WTA) - $10 GAME 8 ONLY
  • High Senior and female out of the money prizes

    Entries are coming in. For all the local BR bowlers who intend on bowling, reserve your spots. There isn't a PBA regional to compete with this year and some regional players have already signed up.

    After having 2 events on the 2009 Masters pattern, I have determined that it isn't going to yield the kind of scores I had intended for this event.

    I am switching back to the 2007 USBC Masters pattern.

    Just confirmed with the center today.

    I will be running a 6 game sweeper Friday August 13, 2010 on the tournament pattern.

    Starting time will be 8pm and the cost will be $60 ($42 prize, $18 lineage). Check-in will start at 7pm.

    As of today, I have 7 spots left on the 9:30am squad and 35 spots on the 4:30pm squad. Local bowlers, if you want to reserve a spot now is the time. The tournament is about one month away.
