It's not a house shot, but they're not announcing the pattern either.

Wow, sounds like a great format <sarcastic tone>.  First, let's only bowl 5 games at 2pm on Saturday, then make 1/2 of the field come back on Sunday (mind you 1:4 cash) to bowl 5 more games.  So, you are telling me you are going to make people stick around and get a hotel Saturday night, and half of those people will not cash in the tournament?  Or the other option for those who live within an hour is to drive back home, then leave early Sunday morning to drive back for the "Semifinals".  Also, I love how the flyer says, "No extra charge to bowl in the Semifinals!". Actually, the cost of a hotel or gas money there and back twice is the "extra charge", and why would there be an extra charge anyways?  Yes, we appreciate you running tournaments, but please make the formats make a little more sense in the future.  If you are going to make people stick around, be it for match play following qualifying or not bowling until the following day, at least pay the bowlers who advance past qualifying!  If they dont advance, let them go home!

I would like to see two things for this tournament's future. It has been running 41 years so it must be fairly successful, but could be much bigger if these two things were implemented. 1) Make the qualifying portion of the tournament longer, as bowlers don't want to drive hours to have one bad game and they are done.  Plus, there is the option for much more side action. 2) Only make 1/4 of the field come back for Sunday's semifinal round, and you get to pay them all for sticking around.  With these two additions, I bet you could get many more people willing to travel more than an hour to bowl this tournament.

Good luck.

Over the last few years we have modified different things in the tournament.  It used to run 2 weekends. We dropped it back from that to all in one weekend.  I'm sorry that you don't like the tournament format.  We run alot of brackets and a high game pot.  The shot for the weekend is not a sport shot but we have not made it the house shot either.  It is a modification between the 2.  Making the shot scoreable but hopefully not a shoot out.  Hopefully this helps all of you.  We usually average around 90 entries.  We rotate centers and it sometimes depends on the center for number of entrties.  If you have any further thoughts or question on the tournament please feel free to call April at 610-823-4199.  Otherwise I hope to see alot of you on Saturday.  Check in begins at 1:00pm and practice starts at 1:45.

I've always gotten the feeling this tournament was locally based.  I'd like to bowl it, but if I make the first cut and don't cash, I'm out a full tank of gas and miss out on Leisure's tournament.

As a suggestion, could you just bring back the cashers the next day?  Maybe cut to top 16 and have a matchplay component for Sunday.

It all depends on if you want this tournament to expand.  It's obviously very successful locally and that might be what matters most.
