To add to Durst's post...
Yesterday, we had 34 entries for the 8 gamer and quite a few were first timers which is encouraging as we go forward. Latise & I just want to thank everyone who came out and played.
To help folks better understand Kegel's Rt.66 pattern, it's a 45ft pattern that dictates that all bowlers stay closer to the pocket. The groove of the pattern is between the 3rd and 2nd arrow. Ft Meade has the down the lane locaters, so the idea was to not throw the ball right of 11 at the breakpoint which was the outside locater. And because the pattern is flat, when you play outside of the 2nd arrow, it becomes tougher to score.
At one point, the right handers were looking worried as 3 left hander out of 4 were all in the top 6. I’ll give the lefties credit, they weren’t hell bent on playing up 5 and I could see why they were sitting 1, 2 & 4 in the standings at the halfway point. Once enough right handers figured out to move in between 10 & 15 the pattern started to get a groove and that’s when we saw the scoring pace jump up.
40 Boards is going to try and continue to offer a variety of patterns as we have had down house shots, modified patterns, PBAx patterns and a Kegel pattern so far in the ’08-’09 season We’ll announce February’s location shortly!
