Brad Angelo.....
« on: May 13, 2004, 09:25:32 AM »
The Obenauer Tournament in WNY is a premier event for the "best" in the area. Although top prize is only $1500.00, it does come with an expense paid trip/entry to the ABC Nationals.

Brad Angelo, Jack Jurek now are undefeated after 2 rounds of match play. Joe Ciccone lost his first tonite. Bruce Heim is still alive in the losers bracket as well.

The only downside this year to participants is the absence of Tom Baker, Brad Kiszewski (1990 PBA ROY), Fran Bax (injured) and Dave Guindon.

The shot has been incredibly difficult, and low scoring is more the norm, with a premium on spares. Not unusual to see Angelo shoot 250's then 150's on the same pair!

Anyone wanting more details I would be happy to reply, or you can see updates on www.bowlwny.com

As an update/afterthought......

It was quite amazing to see Joe Ciccone lofting the left gutter, ball landing approximately 8-10" directly past the 1st arrow (5 board left side) starting late in the 3rd of 4 game series. This was on the right lane, where on the left lane with a different ball, he was splitting 20-25 at the arrows.

The lane conditions were absolutely horrendous on Thursday on that pair, and not much better for the others.
