Yeah its ran really well, however we will see how the change in the format does.  No matter how many entries this year, only taking 4 to the finals, could get interesting.

    Mike L,

I dont see what the difference is from having a 5 person stepladder and having 4 bowlers continue to bowl for the top 4 spots.   In this format, 3 & 4th places get the same amount of money.  Those other cashers get paid in cash and get to go home to watch the football game.  This format has only changed in that it is 6 games instead of my normal 5 and we have actually had this format before.  Usually after the 6 games bowlers are able to get their pots and brackets and cashers get their money and either a few bowlers stay around to watch or the continue to enjoy the remainder of their day.

I have had bowlers from as far as North Carolina, New Jersey and Pittsburg come to my tournment and they enjoy the tournament.   Local bowlers MD/VA/DC are always very supportive and look forward to the next one.

Oh yeah , Mike L.   The more people you take over to additional rounds, the more expense money is needed and that can only reduce your prize fund.   The tournament that I have in July/August is usually the tournament that has additional rounds.  The tournament that I had on July 28, 2007 had the matchplay round and paid $1400 1st place with 81 entries.

Last year you cut to match play based on entries correct?

If im wrong i apologize but im pretty sure last year when i bowled you cut to the top 16.  In no way am i criticizing your tournament, you run a good tournament and actually advertise it and get entries but myself, cavey, and a few others were talking about the format.  Why change something thats not broken?

    Mike L,
I think the triple threat men/women's events (usually in October until this year) always cut right to stepladder. Last year it was top 5. This year's August event cut to match play based on entries, but never the October (now December) event.

So its not a big change from previous years, just one less person in the finals. The difference this year is there are other choices for things to bowl that day, so that makes some people look closer at the event format/pay ratio/# of entries/condition to make a decision.

Oh ok, I thought I bowled last year and they cut to the top 16.  Brian Poole won it and i thought it was match play.  Its not a big deal, i just heard a few guys questioning it thats all.

Yeah, I think that was last year, but it was the August event, not the Triple Threat Men in October.
