Hey, I will try to make it up there!  I am about 2 hours away in Auburn, ME. and I love the PBA Experience concept, it really helps bring ability and spare shooting skill back into bowling.  I am currently starting up the first fall PBA Experience league in Maine at Spare Time Recreation in Lewiston, and I am psyched that your tournament is firing up, count me in!!

I can not make it this weekend (family reunion ), but I definetely want to get to as many as I can in the following months.  PM me if you happen to have a tentative idea of future dates, as I bowl in NEBA on occassion, and I also bowl in a traveling Maine Scratch Tournament once a month, so the more notice I have to plan my tournament dates the better.  Great job of getting some scratch action to the upper Northeast, I can't wait!   -James

The tournaments are held at houses in Portland, Brunswick, Lewiston, Augusta, Skowhegan, Waterville, and Bangor and they are one Sunday a month, single round of qualifying at 10:00 AM, with four games across 8 lanes of qualifying.  The feild is cut to the top 6 or 8 (depending on # of entries), and it is single elimination match play until a winner is crowned.  You do not have to be from Maine to bowl, but you do have to be a sanctioned USBC bowler, as the tournament is USBC sanctioned, and any honor score rolled in the tournament qualifies for awards.  I will post a schedule as soon as we hammer one out (which should be in the next week or so).  Thanks for the inquiry as we always encourage as many people to come out as possible, and I will tell my regulars from our tournament about your PBA Experience tournament, and I am sure I can get a bunch of guys to carpool to Manchester.  I have bowled in Raymond and Dover many times, and look forward to getting to Manchester to bowl in your tournament.  Thanks for the great response!!  -James

sounds great, I have family in Oakland and Sydney so i am familiar with most of the centers up there, let me know I'd love to try one out. On average how many people show up and how are the payouts and brackets, as well as cost?

Sorry it took so long for me to respond (I was out of town on a business trip), but we typically have between 20-30 bowlers show up, which means we have between 4-6 bowlers that make the single elimination match play round.  There are brackets and high game/high series pots, with the typical bracket amount running 10-12 per tournament, at $5 per bracket, and $10 for high game/high series.  The amount made after qualifying varies depending on the number of entries, but the average amount for 4th, 3rd, 2nd, and 1st are like this: $50 (entry fee) for 4th, $75 for 3rd, $150 for 2nd, and $300 for 1st place.  We are hoping to get more out of state bowlers involved, as we see pretty much the same 20-30 guys from our own state at every stop, and it would be nice to branch our tournament out to other competitors from other areas besides Maine.  I hope this answers your questions, and if you need any contact info, just PM me, and I will respond ASAP, thank you!
