PA Mixed States - Review
« on: June 28, 2009, 01:23:45 PM »
Just got back from Mixed States, here is my review.

The center is wood approaches with synthetic lanes.  They have a 36 foot pattern out with 95% of the oil between 10 and 10.

We bowled team at 10AM on Sat.  Started out with Emerald Vibe (Ball specs in profile).  Ball was great the first half of game one, but then hit carry down and the ball wouldn't get around the corner hard enough to kick the seven.  I switched to a few different and settled on the pin up Twisted Fury.  I shot 204 game 1.  I was targeting 10 at the arrows all day sliding 20.  I stuff a 7 and 9 game 2 for 270.  Made one bad shot game 3 coming in for 256 and a 730 set.  Team had 2570 to take the scratch lead.  The other male on the team was playing about 15 to 7 on the right side with a Black Widow.  The two females (one a former junior Team USA member... if you know me, you know who it is :-)) both struggled early, but as they broke down they started to open up and between 7 and 10 was in play for her.  I got 40 back putting 20 in brackets going 204-270-256.

We took an squad off and then bowled doubles at 3:30.  They had not redressed the lanes and the pair we got was an absolute mess.  I was all over and had no look... I was throwing the ball at 18-19MPH and still could not get it to hold on the left side and carry the 7.  The best look I had was with the Emerald ober 18 at arrows sliding 37.  The GF was playing between 3rd and forth arrow, yes they were that hooky.  I missed a few spares to shoot 560, and she added 600 for 1160 to place 6th-ish.  I got 40 back of my 75 in brackets going 18? - 19? - 17? - 560

This am we bowled another doubles squad, this time on fresh.  They played nothing like what we had for fresh team, even tho it was at the same center.  I was in the same spot as I was with the twisted but either weak seven'd or moved to let a 6 pin...  I moved into 30 game 3 over 15 at arrows and shot 24? with 2 stuff 10 pins... for 620.  Put 60 in brackets got 60 back going 19?-18?-24?

I made more money in handicap brackets than scratch ones.  They handicap bowlers seem to really be struggling with the sheer hook at this place..

Hope this helps, feel free to ask any questions!
