PA State Tournament 2009 - Allentown Scores
« on: April 03, 2009, 07:14:30 AM »
I see that there was an 800 series shot the first weekend for the tournament. Also 2100 for all events. What a start to a tournament. I guess it gives everyone something to shoot for now.

You failed to mention the person who shot both the 800 and 2100 is a PBA National Champion! That might have something to do with it!

Not to Bump , but....I might want to get a team up....Anyone wanna possibly bowl? I'd need a doubles partner too. I'd be going in 211 luckily I'm at 219 now so no ten pin rule!! Looking for a solid team.

Scores have the potential to be pretty high.  At the team house there is a ton of hold in the middle and a pretty good shot sets up from just about any angle inside.  Carry could be an issue, but otherwise no worries.  Outside is OB if you are swinging it out there, but that is nothing unusual.  Straight up outside works pretty well, but you lose most of the hold on the tug and still have no room outside.

I didn't bowl S/D yet (and won't till may), but it sounded pretty similar

Best bet is 2nd shift at both houses though, it really opens up towards the end of the 3rd game of team, though I wonder if it will dry up too much by the end of the day.

I am bowling again May 30/31 at noon both days and may try to wander down and sub a time or two beteen now and then (I live 5 minutes from each center)

Sounds like a typical Pa state shot. They always seem to have the OB, but you can usually find a shot somewhere on the lanes. (I hope)....Thanks for the info, we are heading out that way the 8th and 9th of May. About a 4 hour trip for me.

What RV Park are you staying at?  Just curious...we are going the last weekend and haven't selected a campground yet, but plan to soon.

Bowled team today, shot 694, could have been a bunch more

Started off with a pin high Virtual Gravity playing a small swing from 13 arrows - 8 breakpoint...and i had room to miss...front 7, miss in weak 10 then out until the last ball where i got slow and went through the face for a 275 (Whoo HOO i got a pocket knife for shooting that! lol)

Virtual started to jump on me a bit and i wanted to stay at the same part of the lane so i went to a pin down second dimension, it worked OK but by the end of this game the outsides were starting to fry (A few of guys on my pair were playing out with surface)...few splits and spares, second game 196

Switched directy to a pin up hyroad and jumped in to around 15 and started swinging the ball more...had a great look with as much room as i had the first game, opened in the 10th with a 2-8-10 for 223...could have punched out for 250ish the last game...

Shot is there...not hard by any means, but not a THS...hang right, hold in...also pretty slick approaches compared to what im used too...

Singles and Doubles today...similar shot to what is at Rose Bowl but a little more friction downlane (Should be expected the surface at Jordan is wood)

Tried to start with the Same pin up Virtual, and between me throwing the ball like crap and the ball reading the lane a touch too early i ended up shooting 176 the first game...switched to my Hyraod and went from there, i had a great look, and started making better shots and went 237-280 the last two playing a small swing from 13 to 8...693 for singles

Flopped pairs and noticed right away this pair was a little tighter downlane...bumped a little right with my feet and got lined up again...opened late in the game for 225, then the transition really started...the middle started to fry and there was still oil out...not a good combo...i stuck with the hyroad and pulled a 196 and 199 out of the last 2 for 620...i should have switched to something weaker like my street rod or mars, but i was too slow to see the lanes were going south and i liked the way the hyroad was going through the pins

So 2007 all events...unfortunately that will prolly get me an atta boy and see you next year, but i was happy with the way i rolled...someone has already shot 2326 and that may even get beat...carry is good in both houses and the shot is not bad at all...

Good luck to all who go!

Hey Britton, thanks for sharing your info from the tournament. I see they have been putting up some big numbers already. You really think someone is going to beat 2326, WOW!!!!
You said the one house had slick approaches. How was the other?

It could happen...thats a huge number now that i really think about it, BUT i do think it could be touched if someone gets the right ball in their hands and makes smart decisions as the lanes transition in singles and doubles...

Jordans approaches were a little better, i kept my same heel on that i used at Rose bowl and it worked fine for me.  Both houses were consistent tho...i hate going to a house and one shot i stick and the next time i slide a ton...
