Thought I'd give my recap of Friday night at Jordan.
Singles (lanes 1 & 2): 176-258-259 = 693
First game was real tough. Started with my Special Agent but couldn't find a line, plus I didn't make the best shots. Per my plan, I tried to play straight up 10. Bumped one a little wide for a 2-10 split (I lost count of how many 2-10 and 2-8-10's I saw around me). Tugged one just a little and it didn't hold, 4-9 split. There was a little more oil than I expected, so I changed to the Dimension and moved in just a little to play like 13 to 11. Found it and pounded the pocket every shot in games 2 and 3. Left (and converted) two seven pins in Game 2 and a seven and a ten pin in Game 3. I was surprised how well the shot held up, but I was a playing a little inside of most of the other guys on my pair.
Doubles (lanes 3 & 4): 206-279-177 = 662
This pair was a bit looser. Made a 2 and 2 type move to the left and still had a pretty good look with the Dimension. Bumped one a little wide and got ready to shoot my washout, but the ball grabbed and went high for another 4-9. That was different. Stayed on my mark and was doing OK until I rang the 10 pin in three of the last four frames. To top it off, I missed it in the tenth frame. It was hot in the building and my thumb kept getting tighter and tigher. Dummy me took too much tape out of my spare ball and dropped it, missing left by a hair. Stupid. Between the carry issues and the open tenth, I gave away a bunch of pins that game. Also, once I start ringing ten pins, it's time to put away the Dimension. Went back to the Special Agent and left a light 7 pin in the first frame of game 5. Moved back one board and threw nine-in-a-row until a ringing ten pin in the eleventh for 279. Game 6 was wood-lane hell. It was like someone flipped a switch and all the oil was gone. Kept stepping left and the ball kept going high. Left another 4-9 and a 4-10 between strikes. Finally grabbed my Pluto and went like 20 to 12 and struck four of the last five frames for 177. Yuck.
Overall, I was very happy with my physical game, but my mental game let me down a little. This condition required quick bold moves and I reacted a little too slow, especially games 4 and 6. I could have shot nice 700's both sets. With a couple of breaks, games 2, 3, or 5 could have been real special.
Hope my recap helps you guys still to bowl. I would also say that the back ends were pretty strong. I was playing pretty direct with very rolly equipment and I didn't leave a single flat ten pin all night. I would stay away from a real flippy ball, but that's just me. Good luck.
