Mass / New Hampshire Tourneys
« on: March 05, 2007, 12:52:16 AM »
Is anyone on this site from New England?  And if so, does anyone have info regarding amateur tournaments in the area?  There seems to be a tournament in just about every house, every weekend, but where are these advertised?  How does someone get involved?  If I go around to some houses on a Saturday morning to practice at different houses, I always find a tournament going on.  I am currently not in a league, so that may be the problem.  Anyway, thanks for listening, and thnks for any help.

It depends on what you are looking for...smaller house tournaments or larger ones?  NEBA has a monthly traveling scratch tournament with stops in RI, MA and CT.  You can check out the stops on the website:

I would also post a question like this on their message boards and the guys over there either know about local action or are running it.

There is the Peoples Tournament held once a month in CT and once a month in MA or RI.

Also see if your bowling center receives The Bowling Ledger. It's a free monthly bowling publication for New England and it lists several local tournaments. If you can't get find a copy send me a PM. I know the guy who writes TBL and I can put you in touch with him.

Thanks.  I am just looking for some tournament exposure and experience.  I don't have a team, and can't find a league during mid week nights that needs a bowler and is a decent league.  I would love to do a sport shot league or some sort of competitive league, both to help improve my game, and to get myself a sanctioned average for tournament entry.  I appreciate the help.  I am sure either Lowell, Cambridge, or Nashua has TBL somewhere in the house for free,  I have seen it before, I think it's the B&W newspaper.  Thanks again.  Andre

Yep, Lanes and Games in Cambridge usually has a few copies laying around.

Also, as a heads up there is going to be a PBA Experience league there this summer. I've heard it will be on Tuesday nights but I don't have all the details. That's not my home house but I meet with my coach there.

This summer will be my first league there so it's going to be a new experience for me too. As of this current season, they are the only center in the Boston Metro area running a sport or pba experience league. If the summer league runs smoothly I might bowl there in the fall.

As far as pro shops I fully recommend USA Pro Shops owned by Ray Disanto Jr. He has a two shops, one at Boston Bowl in Boston and one at Westgate Lanes in Brockton. I won't publicy toot the guy's horn but he has expert credentials. We can talk about that via PM if you'd like to.
