The state of bowling…
« on: July 27, 2007, 01:45:27 AM »
The older bowlers must be shaking their heads right now when they look for the “young guns” of bowling. Where are the 20 something bowlers that are suppose to carry the torch? The lack of youthfulness starts at the junior level and carries over to adult scene.

I know the 30+ crowd remembers when they were in youth and could not wait to turn adult. Some of us made the leap at 15 or 16 years of age. As a youth director, I would not advocate any youth bowlers doing that now, times have changed. The youth bowlers of today have opportunities we are mad we did not have! I know what some of you are saying, we had Cokes man! Cokes is now Pepsi and the youth scene has boomed with high school, a growing college bowling scene, not to mention the numerous organizations offering scholarship events.

Now once all of these youth bowlers graduate from youth bowling, where in the heck do they disappear too? That is the real question that needs an answer! The youthful bowlers of league are now 30 and not long ago it was 21-22. The lack of youth bowlers is hurting leagues & tournaments!

Reach back and help youth bowling grow! You might just help grow the adult membership tomorrow!!!
