Now, now boys... if I had known all this ruckus would be from one tournament ... we would have put on one sooner!!
. Really though, isn't the real point is that no one really just comes out and bowls anymore. It has to be all about this pattern or that pattern or it favors lefties or righties. I mean c'mon guys, if really meant that much, the lefties would never bowl because they are outnumbered 3 to 1 by shear genetics.
I know both of you (Mike & Kevin) and appreciate each's participation and support of all the tournaments at FHL. My main issue about this "ordeal" is that, as an individual whose sole attempt for the last many years is to just try to provide events for ALL to participate in, it's already very difficult to put together a tournament that has the very facets that make it worth bowling in. Low entry fees and high prize funds do not go hand in hand so to have both you need help. Along with that is the planning and functionality of the tournament which includes trying to decide what would be both "fair" and attract the most people.
So my point ... and this is/was directed to Kevin ... is that all this takes time. As this has to be a labor of love for the sport (as neither I or staff take any expense $) I don't have the time to sit down with the center and try to work up lanes patterns that are going to be fair throughout the length of the event. It already seems a shame that one has to put a label on what is going to be bowled on. "Back in the day" they didn't do this, we just showed up, put our shoes on and bowled. Now guys won't come because the pattern is too long, it's too short, it's not heavy enough. I mean come on.
So Kevin, if you want to be the one to put your extensive knowledge to work, perhaps you and Mike can have that lunch (with a few cocktails) and formulate a plan and a pattern and I'll run a tournament using it. Other than that, I guess there's not much hope for the sport. LOL!!
