Title: Too many choices on Nov 27
Post by: kevinracefan on November 27, 2011, 01:09:15 PM
Bless all you guys who run tournaments... A thankless job with little or zero pay.. Especially those who don't directly work for a house.. But, some organizing is needed.. You need to grab a 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th weekend and keep a routine.. Weekends like this dilute the number of bowlers, and no one gets a great turn-out... It could be much better if the various centers knew what weekends were available..

Definitely agree Kevin. Seemed like 5 different tournaments going on at the same time with 30-40 entries when 2 tournaments could have be run during the thanksgiving weekend which would have allowed 80 or so entries at each. A little tough to be in 5 places at once.

Here in NJ, there were 3 or 4 Thansgiving eve tournaments within a 15 mile radius

Long story short, EXCUSES EXCUSES EXCUSES!

Kevin, there are too many house mouses to really generate a large turnout these days. Guys actually believe they should average 220+ so when they are challenged and cannot average 220, 230, 240 they don't come out. That small group who bowls on anything against anyone needs to figure out how to influence others to do the same!!! With the number of bowlers in our area, there is no reason there should be less than 50 entries at any tournament.

As a tournament director, I understand that people want to strike but what is wrong with lining up to strike versus just throwing it all over the lane and striking?

Well said Bakes,

I bowl in one house that is full of 230+ average bowlers.

But none of them.....and I mean none, will come out with me and

do a tournament with a sport, PBA or modified house shot.

I have seen more house bi*ches with PBA cards than I care to remember.

But they will not attempt to come out and take on some of the real local talent.

We will see this weekend, i have had atleast 5 people tell me that they want to go

to Annandale for the Match Play tournament on Sunday.

I am still banking on the fact I will be arriving alone...again.

Maybe its me?! I thought I was a nice guy.

Whatever....see you if you are there.
