    48 Entries - (Entry Fee $100.00)

    1st - $950 (Bobby Hall II +547)
    2nd - $525 (Brian Bennett +493)
    3rd -
    4th -
    5th - $??? (Oley +403)?
    6th - $175 (Sven +393)?
    12th - $75 (Choeun To +282)

I'm guessing on 5th and 6th but I know the others are right.

High Games were 278 - 300 depending on the game.

    Numerous 3-Game 800's

I shot +243 with 200, 200 the last two games.  I was having a hard time carrying from as deep as I was, but majority of the bowlers didn't play deeper than 20 at the arrows.

I know alot of people were upset that the prize fund was crappy.  I didn't grab the prize fund but I also heard they raped the bowlers for $30.00 in lineage, leaving $70.00 for the prize fund.

I'll post another topic regarding my thoughts on Bowl America.

Dont most centers these days charge tournament directors $2.50-$3.00 per game? If so, a 10 gameer for $30 would be right within the range you would expect to be charged.....He was saying 1200 on top with 65 entries.......he got 48 and paid 950. Sounds like he prorated fairly.

Like I mentioned, I didn't take a copy of the prize fund.  I just know that many people were talking about the dropoff in the prize fund.

My comment is directed to the fact that they charge regular league bowlers and tournament bowlers the same price and joey douchebag that comes off the street to chuck a houseball down the lane.

There's no loyalty to the tournaments or leagues.  Heck, my league on Tuesday gets raped for $12.15 (4.05 a game) for lineage.  So if I look at it that way, I guess tournaments do get a break for their lineage.

I'll post my rant in another topic.....don't want to hijack this one.

    Hahn,
I am going to interject as someone who flip flops between bowling and organizing tournaments. Always know what “THE HOOK” is before you go along for the ride. Bowl America and AMF are one in the same when it comes to lineage, it is $2.75-3 per game. The rate is what it is and in order to host or have tournaments to bowl, that’s the rate right now. Leagues have been accepting “THE HOOK” at $12 so the centers have no reason to change. Oh yeah, don’t forget those recreational bowlers who pay $4-5 to rent shoes that cost the center $20. Plus, they shell out $5 a game and throw down $10 pitchers of light beer like there is no tomorrow. Now onto my view from both sides of the table…

    Mr. Tournament Director:
I hate paying that rate but we don't have a choice. I am sure Jim did not put $70 in prize fund back either, almost every area tournament has an expense line. The sound of 1:3 or 1:4 always sounds better then 1:5 or 1:6 but there is a trade off. With 48 people, Jim had to pay 12 spots (1:4) versus paying 8 (1:6) and it's simple math from here. The prize fund payout does not change but with the extra people to pay there is less to go around. First, second and third are good and then the money drops fast because it's stretched thin with the last 9 he had to pay.

    The Bowler:
You have to realize what "THE HOOK" is at every tournament. Jim typically top loads the prize fund at the top and last is less than the entry fee. It's his pattern, so anytime you bowl, that's what you should expect. When you come to a 40 Boards event, we take a little off the top (like a haircut) and spread it down. VMSBT has been riding that trend too, sweetening the last few cash spots to make more than just the winner happy. The funny thing, I know guys griping about this tournament or that tournament yet they keep going and letting that tournament give them "THE HOOK"!!!
