Bowlingballmall??
« on: June 17, 2012, 08:28:47 AM »
Anyone know what actually happened with Bowlingballmall.com?  I had purchased Lanemasters balls from them some time back.  Pat Duggan was really helpful,  has been 2 years now.  Same old message when accessing the website.

Pat is a first rate guy. He chased down 2 different discontinued balls for me. He could have just said sorry, can't do it. People on here talk about having balls drilled at their pro shop, so I guess they decided not to continue the online store. Quite a shame because they had older balls while everyone else moved on to the next latest and greatest.

Pat was actually a distributor with the online shop as a sideline, and with Maryann running her own pro shop. Brickguy used her services a few times. With several illnesses and hospitalizations in the family about 2+ years ago, the web site got to be too much, as near as I remember. He wanted to update it but there was just too much going on.

He did much the same for me as has already been mentioned. Great guy, really interested in servicing the customer no matter how it inconvenienced him. I can't say enough about him. I hope his troubles have been solved by this time.

I wouldn't expect the website to be back up in the near future, but I could be wrong.

Charlest, the shop I was using becasue it was closer to where I lived, closed the last week of this past December, so I am once again using Anne Marie's services and her services are still the best of anyone in OKC, including the shop I used before it clsoed. Her drilling accuracy is still tops and exact in terms of span and pitches as well as lay-outs on the ball. I jsut purchased a Versa - Max from her Monday of last week and the layout she gave me was perfect for my style and lane conditions I bowl and her drilling accuracy was accurate also.

tburky, I don't know if it was that bad or not. Just from my observation when ever I went to Heritage, I always thought the driller was busier this past year than any of the previous years. He used to have a lot of idle time whereas this past year, he always seemed to be working on someone's ball or drilling a ball or etc, but like I said, maybe it wasn't as it appeared, I don't know.

I asked the Heritage Lanes manager about why the shop closed and he said that the owner of shop (Doug something???) said he was losing money there, true or not, I don't know. I'm not convinced that was the case, but have no proof other wise.

I will say this though and that is the driller didn't exactly excell in comunnicating with customers and was not that good as a salesman which may have hurt business some.

They offered the shop to him, but he didn't want it, saying that he was tired of drilling balls, so I have been told.

I have heard that some young kid is going to open the shop in July. Name is Blake something. A tall skinny kid and a great bowler. I know him but don't know his last name. He learned from the driller that left, but I don't know how much he learned. Anyhow, I am going to stick with Anne Marie Duggan for now. Her prices are a bit steep, but her quality of work is great.
