Placed a ball order and had the ball shipped within the hour.  Received the ball in 2 days.  Amazing service!!!!! Keep up the good work.

themezz,

I don't totally agree.  If I order a ball from Buddies shipping is free and there is no taxes.  If you order a ball from your state, then you're paying taxes, about 9 % in CA.  Plus you talk to a pro shop, not just a bowling ball warehouse.  They also test the bowling balls and have videos of the balls tested.

Not saying you can't get the ball the same from other internet sales, but there are many ways that Buddies is difficult to beat.  They are also extremely easy to return bowling balls to if you recieve something you didn't like or even when a ball is cracked.

the drilling at Buddies is great even for someone like me who lives 3000 miles away and the Exactacator thumb slugs they make are reasonable and high quality.

themezz,

Please calm down already. When you start dishing out personal attacks as a response, it means the other poster has already won. And it has nothing to do with being a house hack. Nicanor has found Buddies to be good for drilling his balls andhe says so. Maybe he should try Alvin, maybe not. It's often safer to stick with someone who's already doing it right for you.

Yes, I have found BowlingBall.com and, in the recent past, BlockbusterBowling.com, to also be good and safe websites. I have no truble recommending them to anyone. But I have to admit, that Buddies always seems to throw in that little bit extra every time you turn around.

Since shipping costs do not affect these purchases, it's always quicker to order from someone closer to you.

This post was put here by someone who wanted to share a great, positive experience they had with buddies, not to get flamed by the internet "fairness in advertising" nazis.

I could care less if the other e-tailers can match this one or not, I'm just glad to know when someone has a positive experience with one.

You jump in here to demean someone for their post about a positive experience, tell us that the dealer in question is no better than the ones you list. Not only that, but you then jump on ANOTHER persons reply because he also likes that particular e-tailer.

Well then themezz, pray tell us all, why should we be awestruck by the great Jim Murtishaw or the mighty Alvin Lou?  One won a title in 1980 and the other in 1987. One won one title, the other won two, between 25 and 30 years ago, and this makes them knowledgable and worthwhile ball drillers and shop owners?

I truly don't know how good buddies is or isn't. Neither do I know anything about the great Jim Murtishaw or the mighty Alvin Lou. What I do know is the internet would be a much better place without internet nazis like you.

themezz,

Tried Alvin Lou several times.  Alvin does not make thumb moulds.  When I first used Alvin, he would not even oval thumbs.  Just one round hole.  My thumb is very wide but not round.  My thumb is actually bigger then Mark Roths.  Alvin Lou''s prices are out of this world.  He pretty much handles the beginner and middle level bowlers and equipment.

The personal attention I recieve from Buddies pro far exceeds Alvin''s pro shop.  I bowl at Parkway bowl four times a week.  I even tried Alvin as a coach.  Fourty dollars a hour and he spends 45 minutes on the phone.

Mind you, I like Alvin, but Alvin''s Drilling Room doesn''t come close to Buddies pro shop.

With the age of electronics, I can call Buddies have them drill a ball for me and ship it to me and I would get the ball faster from Buddies then I would at Alvin''s even if he had it on the shelf.

Where is Jim?  I don't know that he is local.  We had Jim Lewis (Bowlers Depot), but he closed his pro shops in the bowling centers and opened a shop in a strip mall. So we have Alvin at Parkway, no pro shops in Kearny or Mira Mesa bowling centers, the Naval Base just hired a new person and recnetly sent him to school to learn how to drill bowling balls. We also have San diego Bowling Supply in a strip mall.

So getting a ball from buddies is a real good deal, it is a pro shop, not just an internet site, they have fantastic customer service and when you call there, you're talking to a pro shop person, not just someone taking your order.  You get your ball drilled to perfection and in a timely manner.

Can another company/internet sales site perform as well as Buddies? maybe, not saying they can't.  But why bother when I have an excellent pro shop just a phone call away?

Me and my friend drive 4 hours to go to buddies because we think they do a fantastic job and we enjoy talking with Chris in person.

I definitely try to do all my business through them!

themezz,

So while Bowlingball.com and Blockbusterbowling.com are good places to buy from, are you going to contradict all the EXTRA positive experiences people have had with Buddies?

or will you continue to your tirade?

Nah, no common sense for you. We know you will continue. Pity ...

Bye!

At this point, I'm just suprised considering the knowledgeable pro shop owners in that world buddies is still far and above the best online retailer. They provide a simple service which they just do very well. Easily copied, but few if any pro shops have attempted to make the transition.

Motogp,

I think some of the online/internet bowling ball sales sites are starting to offer drilling and thumb moulds as well as other services.  Buddies has been so successful, that it seems to make sense if your going to get a ball from an internet site, that they would have the capibilities to drill the ball for you as well.  With me so far as working with Buddies, I sent them my favorite fitting ball.  It wasn''t my favorite ball, but it was the one that I wish every ball fit like.  They made a thumb mould, took the measurements off that ball and now when i recieve a ball from buddies, its ready to throw.

I think this service as well as others are catching on.
