Buddies Pro Shop - Expected More
« on: February 24, 2006, 10:58:48 AM »
Well, I just found out from my uncle a little bit of information about Buddies that is very distrubing.  One of his teammates bought a Paradigm from Buddies, and for whatever reason, it cracked.  Buddies would not even take the ball back for a warranty consideration.  They said SORRY - we cant help you.

Ironically, my uncle, who also has a Paradigm, had his crack a week after he had it drilled.  He went back to the pro shop where he bought it from.  His ball was replaced and redrilled at no extra cost.  Same day, no problems at all.

Looks like Buddies is not so  "CUSTOMER FRIENDLY" after all!

This is just one of the reasons we feel that Storms' customer service is 1st rate. They want to hear directly fom the customer and straighten out the problems.

I don't know the whole story, nor what the complete details of the exchange between the OP and Buddies, but it seems like a lot of this could have been avoided simply by telling the OP to call Storm and talk to Earnest.  It sounds like the OP was simply told "Sorry, can't help" and left to fend for himself.

If that's not the case, and he was told to contact Storm, I apologize, as should the OP.  He was given an option to resolve his problem but chose to come here and complain.

I've placed two orders through Buddies and gotten exactly what I expected both times.  Good services, quick shipping, and good prices.  No complaints here.

Here's what I do (as a pro shop) in this situation...

1. I find out where they bought the ball.
2. I ask if they contacted the seller about the problem.
3. If the seller refuses to deal with it, I look and see if I have purchased a similar ball from one of my suppliers. If I have, I can get credit for it from my supplier.

I will always stand behind anything I sell both in my physical pro shop and on the Internet.

In no way is this a slap at Buddies as I do business with them even as a pro shop with other connections. CHris is right...Storm wants us to have the customer contact them direct but Storm and RotoGrip are the only ones who do it that way.

Since I am the person that deals with all the internet customers, I would like to post what I think happened in this situation.  I have had two customers with Paradigms, with warranty claims, that we could not help them with at the time.

The first cusotmer emailed me pictures of his ball, and ask if he could send it back.  After reviewing the pictures, I told the customer that the ball would be considered Stress Fractures and would not be covered.  I told him that if it got worse, to let me know and we could take another look at it.

The second customer said that he had a cracked ball.  I ask him if he would like the same ball, and he said yes.  I informed him that we were currently sold out and should have more shortly.  He said he would contact me at a later date.

Both of these customers I have not heard back from.

When these customer contact me, we will handle the claim.  I have never denied a warranty claim on a ball, and  have replaced a number of balls over the past couple of months, due to cracking problems.

If anyone has a problem, please give us a call and we will take care of your needs.

Bill, thanks for the explanation.. It sounds like to me you have done all that you can do for now.. I do agree, not all damage should and will be covered by the manufacturers warranty..

If I may....

I bought a Paradigm from Buddies a couple months back.. The ball was shipped to my office and when I opened the box, the ball was cracked about 1" underneath the finger holes.. I emailed Bill and asked him to check the ball.. He said he would and I shipped it out.. I had another Paradigm two days later, and have had no problems with it..

I guess its good to agree to disagree.

But I thought most bowling balls come with a warning that their bowqling ball warranty will be null and void if you put inserts into the ball?

I have done a lot of business with Buddies and found them very professional and will continue to use them in the futuer, but I also agree for the sake of customer service that they replace the ball if the warranty is still good and ask Storm to replace the ball.  Who has a better chance of getting a ball replaced from Storm, the individual bowler or a pro Shop that does a ton of bussines with Storm?

My two cents.
